Coburn isn't that far off from Subban. And the difference is not Simmonds and a 1st.

A fair deal would be B. Schenn for Subban. Maybe a 2nd of the Flyers side would have to be added since Subban has proved a little more at the NHL level. However, Subban is not the #1 defensemen as Montreal fans portray him, especially not yet, nor will he ever be Norris trophy caliber (way too many defensmen ahead of him in his age group). His value is based on projection so fair value is someone who also has a high protection. Subban projects as an above average 1st pairing puck mover and Schenn projects as an above average 1st line center. I think that value is equal but if you feel defensmen are worth more, the 2nd rd pick in a loaded draft should cover it.

The general feeling I got from the trade forums is that Flyer fans were unwilling to part with Schenn. Thats why I went with Simmonds.

I see any deal for Subban to be similar to the Goligoski trade. Subban is better than Goligoski so alittle more would be needed.

Goligoski was traded for Neal and Niskanen.

The minimum I would be looking for is a stud forward and a d-man that can eat some minutes and a pick.

If we're talking trade, I'd rather try and trade for kulikovs rights, rather than give a kings ransom for Subban, but if we can potentially put the Habs In a situation where try can't match, then I'd offer sheet him, but that's unlikely.

I would not be willing to trade Schenn, was just giving you what I thought would be fair value. I personally think top end centers are worth more than top end defensemen due to the location in the draft necessary to acquire. You can seldom ever get a good center outside the 1st 15 picks in the draft let alone outside the 1st round. Good defensemen, since it is such a crapshoot, can be had anywhere in the draft with a lot of the best ones coming after round 1. Therefore top centers are harder to acquire since you have to suck to get one.

Keep in mind Neal wasnt the Pittsburg Neal yet. He was a "JVRish" prospect, some NHL success w/ flashes of talent. Niskanen is like a 6 dman.

The reality is...the flyers organizational health exists in a limbo...the ones we dont want to trade arr the only assets we can use to get talent...nobody we want to trade is good enough.

Do not want. The guy is a tool.

I actually wouldn't mind a season without a major move for once.

It would just cost too much to get him. Wouldn't help our club out I think.

That's what he want, but Marc Bergevin want PK to accept a 1 or 2 years contract.

You need to remember that in Montreal he is a big star, but if you look at his on ice talent, he is good offensively but need to be pairing with a stay at home defenceman. Defensively he is pretty average on a good team he is a third defenceman. If I'm not mistaken he also pick up three altercations during practice with his teammates last season. I will pick him with us just for the fact that we need a guy who can generate attack at the blue line.

I would as well I think he fits our system well. We don't have anyone like him on the blue line. Since we can't develop a D-man ourselves we have to get used to the idea of overpaying for other teams defensemen. We are always going to have young forwards on ELC's who can play above their contract, because we draft forwards well or scout well in Matt Read's case. So we need to put more money into our D.

Takes him right up to his UFA years. Would be nice if he makes it to free agency. Most likely if he doesn't stay in Montreal, they will trade him at the draft that year.

In a post-post-lockout world, that borders a suicide contract.

hes not even that good a player..

maybe he is in the MTL universe, but in the NHL universe, he doesnt even warrent a mention.

signing him to 7M is about as smart as signing #weakwrists to 5M..

oh wait...
