Pretty much agree with this.

So very true. Concussion will unfortunately do that to you But from watching nowadays hockey I can't blame the guy. He's a warrior and he drives the net hard every shift he knows he can get hurt and he has a family to take care of. He knows he's dumb and he can get dumber when do you end it... I will always respect this guy no matter what he proved it so many time over and I hope he will last at least another year after this one. Eric your daugther will be good trust her.

Couldn't have said it otherwise other than adding a few more grammary mistakes

If Cole retires I have no beef against him. He will have done what he said.

If he doesn't I have lost all respect for him. What a whiny dumb *****..

This lockout makes me miss the last lockout. I'm more disappointed in the players than missing hockey.

Yes, I guess the guy can do what he wants. But I'm not going to praise a guy who's not going to respect a contract he signs.
Well, Cole can't make everyone happy. I would choose to please my family too over some select fans who think it's in his best interest to play for a couple more years a sport you have lost a passion for. IF this is indeed the issue here.

In reality I think he is just frustrated about the whole lockout, and he also got a bit of a taste of what his life is gonna be like when he hangs them up, being with his family and all. Can't really blame him for the words he spoke to Chantale, even though he should have know better.

Maybe I should have clarified but I think Markov's demeanor with the reporters is getting old. It's your job as a former all star, assistant captain, and role model on the team to show a bit of respect to the media. That would be the proper way to conduct oneself, and I don't really care all that much I think it's funny too, but its also outplayed. Start acting like a leader.

#Habs Cole told me tonight he didn't intend for his CBA beliefs to overshadow "new era of this team;" wishes it wasn't a topic at all

Hey Erik, YOU made it a topic.

Chantale did, not Cole. I'm not consequentialist in this one but I don't believe it was his intention to create anything out of it, but lo and behold it's RDS front page stuff with a shocking headline.

Now I realize why this thread was created.

Uh...

Cole is dumb as a rock. Why talk of retirement and how schools suck here... why talk of that **** ?

If he's too dumb to talk genuinely without saying ******** things like that he should just say the usual boring crap everyone else says.

It's funny how all the habs dummies (Cole, Gionta and Gorges) hate on Subban for being a show off, yet he hasn't said a single ******** thing like they have.

Exactly. Cole severely lacks in judgment and seems pretty insensitive about what he says. Kind of why I drew the parallel to Markov.

Cole doesn't sound like a player who's gonna kick butt this season

would be great for the team if he retired after this season though. He likely won't be worth his salary in the last 2 years of his contract.

Very happy that you aren't 'the organization'. You'd send him to the minors for his comments? LOL
if a player was sucking because he missed his family too much and rather be with them instead of play hockey, yes id do that.

The player should just retire instead of take essentially take the organizations money. Thats what it was in regards to.

It was more of an if that becomes reality, not what id do now.

If you lost passion in the game, then fine, say that, don't talk about the CBA/league.
The guy is 34, I mean seriously, who retires in this world at 34?
Considering how the NHLPA made it clear they wanted the league to respect the contracts already in place, and the fact he was highly supportive of them, he should do the same.

Markov is allowed to do what he wants with Media. It's not like the media is nice here. Just look at how they reacted after learning he'd stay an extra game in Russia.

Sure, but he agreed to make that sacrifice when he willingly agreed to the 4 year contract.
Why is this news? And I find it very ironic that a guy like Cole who was completely supportive of the NHLPA's point for the league to respect contracts already offered to then take a step back and question whether he wants to respect his. He's a huge hypocrite and made himself look like a complete idiot.

The media deserves absolutely nothing in this city. In fact, I get a large smile on my face every time Markov ****s with them. The Montreal media has been one of the catalysts for why the team has performed so poorly over the past two decades. They go where they don't belong. They drum up controversial stories where there are none. They consistently lead campaigns against young up-and-coming players on the Habs and they are extremely prejudiced against anything European while being down-right blind in their crusade to have the team almost entirely francophone.

You are a funny guy.

I guess Halak, Kovalev, Plekanec, Emelin, Markov... are French speaking dudes eh?

EDIT:

Cole only has himself to blame.

I am lost as to what your point is.

All of those players listed are non-francophone players who have had campaigns led against them by the Montreal Media. Which is exactly my point.
