Ben Bishop to Oilers

What would Ottawa want for Bishop to the Oilers?

Defense, the only guys I would be interested in would likely be too expensive though (J Schultz, and Klefbaum)

Dubnyk is more proven. Why do you want Bishop?

I prefer Dubnyk, no thanks. Let Dubnyk carry the ball the next 2 years until his deal is up, and if he can't get it done then go get a proven guy.

Parting with him kills our Backup/AHL depth. He will remain a Senator til at least the trade deadline at which point all options will be weighed. We strongly suggest moving your hopes and dreams elsewhere as we acquired him to address our own goaltending needs.

And if we were to move any assets to acquire a Dman, free agency would be first, then we would consider trading a forward prospect.

Edmonton is not in the market for a goalie....a good blog here from Richard Cloutier:

Edmonton takes a pass on Bishop this time (unless Murray gives him to us for a bag of pucks)

Well he got traded for a second rounder. I would say with Anderson and Lehner there he could be moved. I don't know about AHL depth, but I would think a second rounder + maybe a 4th would get him if he was on the market. 2nd rounder and a low level prospect maybe.

I'd trade Bishop for a 2nd + Teubert.

and I'd trade Scrivens for Crosby, too bad it doesn't work like that.

Bishop for a 2nd + Teubert is a complete win-win and you know it.

Hopefully Dubnyk plays well over this shortened season, or else we will have to listen to goaltending rumours all summer again.

I can't see them doing anything before his deal is done in 2 years, after that it's wide open unless Dubnyk solidifies himself.

Seems odd that Oilers would want Bishop. And odd that Sens would trade Bishop before the season.

No thanks, from both ends, most likely.

We have no need for Bishop. We have Dubnyk, who's better right now, and if Khabiboulin goes down, we have Yann Danis, who was AHL goalie of the year last year, to fill in for a couple of games as backup. This year, back up goalies are only needed to fill in the odd game and to fill in if injuries happen. I wouldn't see the need in trading for a goalie who would probably not play 10 games this year.

Lehtonen, Thomas and Backstrom are all UFAs this summer. I doubt they could land any of the 3. But it is still easier than giving up prospects.

Why would Bishop command a first when he was just traded last year for a second rounder??

Bishop isn't worth a potentially high first. A low first, maybe, but we can't guarantee a low first round pick.

Bishop played ten games last year and did not do anything much to raise his value that much higher. If Bishop gets you a first then Jason Riemer is worth 3 first rounders

And if such a player existed, I am sure he would be worth that.
