"I had no idea I was going to be a Spitfire, but I'm pretty thrilled," said the 18-year-old Koekkoek, who was a 10th pick overall in the first round of last year's NHL Draft by the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Quote:
"It's a major upgrade to our back end," said Spitfires president and head coach Bob Bough-ner, who traded captain Saverio Posa to Guelph Wednesday for a fourth-round pick.
"I'm sure some people were upset about Posa being traded and we knew we had to get another defenceman. Slater is a high-end talent."
Quote:
Koekkoek calls himself a two-way defencemen, but is tied for eighth in league scoring among defencemen this season with six goals and 28 points in 40 games, but is minus 28 on the season.
"A little of that has to do with (Peterborough's) record, but when you play top minutes against top lines, it's going to be tough to have a good plus minus and it's the same with us," Boughner said. "You can't teach his ability."
Tokarski gets the start again tonight. Looks like they are giving him the chance to be the official starter.
That or coach Cooper is enjoying letting him become a villain in Norfolk by letting him beat them the past two weeks...

Does anyone know when Kucherov will be back in R-N? IIRC, he wasn't there for the past couple games and the WJC was over.
I think junior teams give their WJC players a mini Christmas break after the tournament ends. I know for a fact Jonathan Drouin got a couple games off to spend time with family, so this is most likely the same case.

Ah ok, that makes sense. I just hope he comes back soon. He had a great tourney and I think I remember him having a very good last 2 or 3 games before the WJC started. I'm hoping he comes back strong!
According to Lindsay Kramer of the Syracuse Post-Standard, Angelidis, Labrie, Conacher, Matt Taormina, and Keith Aulie will leave tomorrow for Tampa to prepare for Lightning camp. They will not be in the lineup on Saturday. Evan Oberg will also not be in the lineup. Additional call-ups will occur after Saturday's game as the Lightning is expected to start camp on Sunday, pending the official end of the NHL lockout.
If start to fell in love with Gauthier 5 points in 12 gamesis a great start to a rookie that isn't getting much icetime and is a healthy scratch most of the time. Hopefully he brings us a lot of fun, when he will now start on a regular basis with more icetime.

With Brown injured and more than likely Conacher coming up, you're going to see a lot of Danick and thats a great thing. Watching him has been awesome, such a ****ing fun skillset on the ice.
So apparently the Crunch just cannot beat Rochester. They are the only team in the AHL that has a winning record over the Crunch. (aside from Bridgeport but they have only played once.)
