Surly is my favorite brewer. Haven't been disappointed by anything yet. Expensive habit you have there.

edit: this thread reminds me! Lockout is over, I can buy beer again!

I'll like Surly much more when their tap room finally opens. Most everything they offer is very good, just don't care for having to hunt down seasonals; whether it's in can form or on tap somewhere.

2nd best Minnesotan offering, in my opinion. I'm a sucker for Town Hall...

So I decided to have a non-alcohol january (it's a thing here in Finland.)

As a beer lover, this sucks ass, so I had a non-alcoholic beer yesterday. I was surprised, it was actually ok!

I never saw the point in non-alcoholic january. It's like people storming to gyms after Christmas holidays and stop going there after a week.

I'm partial to Belgian Trappist and Strong Ales but Serendipity from New Glarus Brewery is by far the best beer I tasted in 2012. It's a fruit beer (had never tried before Serendipity) that is sold in 750ml wax-sealed bottles. It's ultimately the most refreshing beer ever. So many different fruit flavors, all crisp and refreshing. I'd recommend anyone close to MN/WI border to head to WI and pick up a bottle or 10 if you can find it. Runs between $9-10/bottle pending retailer.

I've actually having a non-alcoholic January, although mostly accidentally as I've just forgot to drink.

That'll most likely change though. Stay tuned.

thanks for the recommend. I'll definitely try to pick one up. My sister loves specialty beers like fruit beers or chocolate/coffee stouts...good add to a birthday beer basket.

I really wish I was more of an adventurist beer connoisseur but I am not. I usually stick to my favorite Michalobe Golden Light. I also drink Coors, and Busch Light. I also enjoy some Blue Moon, Leinenkugel, and other beers of that nature.

(I don't drink...)

But for Tuesday night Beer League, I volunteered to bring beer last Tuesday. Picked up a 12-pack Assortment Red Hook for like $7.99...

Well, normally, there is always beer left over, no matter what other people bring... Not so this time.

Looks like the Red Hook was a success.

Drink the good stuff, once buzz kicks in, switch to the BL. Same thing you do with scotch. Drink the single malt until taste doesn't matter then switch to the blends to save $$.

Oh man I've had bad luck bringing beer.

First time I did it, I brought sum Summer Shandy and Sunset Wheat. I figured it's summer league, hot out, hanging out in the lot, go with a light, sweet beer. They all turned their noses up.

Second time, I brought exactly what everyone else drank all year long, Nordeast. And they still kind of turned their noses up. Then again the guys were ****** to me all summer.

I will investigate this further.

Had the New Belgium sampler over the weekend. Pretty solid. All on the darker side (except the IPA) which is fine for the season.
