He reminds me of Cherepanov...

Shane McColgan's Saskatoon Blades playing on NHL network vs Red Deer right now. Currently 1-0 Red Deer in 2nd period.

McColgan with a primary assist on Saskatoon's only goal so far. 3-1 Red Deer after 2.

This is my first viewing of him, impressed with his skating and passing. Seems to make good decisions most of the time.

For anyone that has watched him more, has he been on Nicholls line all year?

What's up with Myles Bell? Any news on him? I'm sure someone is going to offer him a contract. 27 goals on the year so far. By the numbers he's tearing it up.

Is it true that Brady played on the same pairing with Seth Jones? If so that's pretty cool.

Nothing to panic about - but Jesper Fast is sitting out todays game in the SEL. The coach was a bit diffuse and said it was "an injury" and "not sickness" - but did not want to deliberate on if it was serious or not. Hmmmm

Two goals by Ozzy Lindberg. And third period is still left to play.

With these two goals, he's back to being #5 in SEL scoring. He's proving to be a very good prospect. He made the SEL team in the season before he was drafted, which is unusual for a league this good. Since then he's only improved.

I love the Swedish prospects... it seems like they really know how to develop players. The Rangers program seems to be to draft NCAA prospects early, and Swedes late with some CHL guys in between.

It's nice to know that we can trade all of our 1-3 rounders, because most of our young talent comes from the mid-late rounds ;-)

Let's not go overboard. "Most" is a bit of an exaggeration.

I know...

It is pretty impressive when you look at the mid-late picks and free agents though...

I hope Shane keeps it up. His team will be in the playoffs and I hope he can turn it up a notch there. I really think his offense and style of play will translate well to the AHL. He is a spark-plug player.

So his fourth year in the WHL and he may finally equal the output of his first season. Eesh.

Yeah, he can be a slightly bigger version of Ryan Bourque in Hartford. But can he translate his game to the NHL? Doubtful. His offense is not great at all for a player in his final junior season.

McColgan has a better point/game stat this season then MSC.

45 points in 40 gp for McColgan = 1.125ppg

49 points in 45gp for St Croix = 1.09ppg

MSC has struggled to put up points this year. McColgan just failed to improve from year to year. He is no different at 20 than he was at 16. This kind of performance at 16 is the reason he was talked about as a top-5 draft pick, but to be at the same level at 20 is the reason people wonder if he can even play in the AHL.

As for MSC, I'd like to see some scouting reports on him. Maybe he's been really concentrated on his defensive game this year, who knows. But if he's just struggling, that's not good at all.
