Canes could make a great run with

Pitkanen-Vishnovsky
I would like to see that pairing just for the comic value.

I would honestly hope if Pitkanen and/or McBain are really on the trading block, Garth Snow would be doing whatever is necessary to try and get them to the Island.

We've got this Lubomir Visnovsky guy I think you'd be really interested in

Murphy is nowhere close to NHL ready. He needs not only to finish his junior career out but he's gonna need at least a year in the AHL playing against men. Probably two years. While he's no bust, he's certainly not NHL ready.

Volchenkov would be pretty much a perfect fit on this team, but I doubt it'd happen.

I'm late to the party...Schroeder (possible 3rd line center this year, could move up depending on where the Staals and Skinner end up playing) + 1st for McBain?

Call me wayyyyy out of the loop, but aren't Carolina swimming in centers? Ruutu was a center, both Staals are centers, Skinner can play center (I thought), Jokenin can play center...no?

Dont know of its been mentioned yet, but Zack Smith from Ott for McBain? If you need a 3C, Smith is perfect in that role. We just have enough centers as it is and not enough defenseman.

Skinner is a C converted to a winger and Jokinen is a natural LW who played C (tho IIRC he said he didn't enjoy it as much as winger)

Oh wow... I don't think Winnipeg trades either player for that package, let alone both.

Cole talking retirement after this season is a good thing for the Habs. It would mean that we got him on a 2 year 4.5M/year contract. His worst years will be the remaining 2 after this year. Habs should hold onto him then let him retire next season.

What the? Huh? For real? Seriously?

The Jets GM would be immediately fired by ownership for even proposing such a deal.

Under the new CBA, the Canes could make that trade with the Habs and have them keep some of the money on it. Cole in Carolina for 3 mil a year would probably be doable.

What a pipe dream... the habs aren't going to pay some of his salary just bc he wants to play closer to home

If they get something back for him perhaps they consider it. I'm just throwing out options....he will end up on Raleigh at some point, so perhaps something gets done.

They should trade Wheeler for that package in my opinion. But yes, I wouldn't trade Bogosian for it alone.

Semin for Galiev, 1st

Caps need a one shot sniper for Ribeiro and Semin certainly fits the bill.

Etch-a-sketch everything I said then. I thought you meant back to the Canes.

I refuse to let that happen.
