I saw that Matteau is invited and Lamoriello said 5 or 6 forward lines 2 goalies and 8 D, the last two being obvious. If he did say 5 or 6 forward lines then:

Kovalchuk-Zajac-Zubrus
Tedenby-Elias-Butler
Carter-Josefson-Clarkson
Bernier-Gionta-Barch
Matteau-????-Janssen
??????????????

Who else could he invite? I'm thinking we might see a guy like Pesonen or whoever the Devils are really high on in Albany up here.
Whitney, Anderson maybe. Idk

He's definitely a 60-75 point player during a full season. If Oilers are trading Hemsky, they will be trading him because his value will be close to a 60-70 point Hemsky and not an injury plagued Hemsky. In order for the Devils to get him, they'd have to pay that value or relatively close.
Might want to re-check your math.

Okay, so the math says 73 points? I said somewhere near, so yeah, my estimation is accurate enough.

Lou Lamoriello, Pete DeBoer and Scott Stevens watch video of Kovalchuk figure skating. Give me 3 words or less for each guy's 1st thought.

I know Lou's would be "Status quo"

Whose reports are these? I know Todd is a little better than the usual Hockeybuzz tripe, but I still don't trust anything coming out of Eklund's site.

The Florida Panthers, New Jersey Devils, New York Islanders and Winnipeg Jets would all like to add a playmaking winger to their roster and could target Hemsky.

Todd Cordell, Devils writer on hockey buzz who cited FourthPeriod.

FourthPeriod is more of a team X has an extra winger and team Y needs a winger and has players team X needs, so put two and two together and hope you get it right to look more credible.

It's pretty much saying that HE THINKS the Devils should be targeting A GUY LIKE Hemsky.

lol they have two guys far more injury prone than Volchenkov including one they'd want to trade for him.

Edmonton needs D help so I don't see how Isles could trade for him, I doubt the panthers would want to move Gubranson/Kulikov for him, Jovo prob wouldn't waive NTC. Jets have only Enstrom, Bogo, and BUff that would be of interest and I doubt they'd want to give that up

Edmonton has 7 defensemen on 1 way contracts plus Justin Schultz. They need an upgrade on defense but don't really need to add another defensemen right now. If they make a move it probably won't be until the offseason when 3 of those guys become UFAs.

I'd love to get hemsky here it would be such an upgrade. Elias and hemsky on the same line would be dynamite. Hopefully they really make a push for him but I doubt we get him.

Problem is the half season Hemsky would be healthy for is the half season that got canceled by the NHL/NHLPA

TFP was so convinced about the team being sold and they completely missed the ball on that one. I refuse to buy into anything they say about NJ

Hemsky, with the right linemates including a skilled center, would be an incredible addition to this Devils team.

If you're talking about the trade forum thread the guy who said that is not an Oilers fan. And the point he was making seemed pretty valid to me, that Hemsky's average games/season is only a few less than Volchnekov's. Assuming his numbers are correct, it is a bit odd that one guy gets labeled as injury prone and the other does not.

Hemsky is a skilled forward while Volchenkov is a hard hitting, shot blocking defenseman. I can't think of a player that plays like Anton and still manages to play 75+ games a year.

I have a lot respect for Volchenkov so I don't take anything away from him. As for Hemsky, his injury is basically both shoulders, and that's because he's taken a number of big hits over the years. Many criticisms can be made of him, but the guy is not a wimp. If he's healthy, and there's some reason for optimism here, then I would expect a very productive season out of him.

Ya, just remember folks, if anybody tells you that they know what the Devils are going to do, they are lying.

Devils lineup 12-13

Hey boys!

Norwegian Devils fan reporting in!

I was just wondering what you might think could be our lineup for this season, if we dont add any new players to our rosters.

Also, the Rags looks scary this year!
