What's taking so damn long? Is it really too hard to vote yes online?

NHLPA has ratified it..

Quote:
@aaronward_nhl NHLPA has ratified the agreement. Still requires signed MOA from both sides.

Maybe I'm just being optimistic, but I think the announcement from the NHLPA that the vote passed means this thing is almost done.

Early this morning ... when for some dumb reason I thought I'd hear this mess was over ... the NHLPA said they were respecting the wishes of the NHL and not announcing the result of the vote just yet.

Ehh ... I didn't remember it exactly:

Quote:
NHLPA ‏@NHLPA

Per agreement with the NHL, we will announce results of player vote later today. Discussions to finalize the MOU continue this morning.
From memory I thought they were saying the vote announcement and MOU could be tied together.

It's not the vote. The MOU is holding everything up. This document will serve as the rules of the land until the exact wording of the CBA is hammered out. They said they've already invested over 100 hours into the thing.

I wish it could go faster.

Quick question. I'm having a brain fart. MOU?

Memo of Understanding

Cliff notes version of the CBA, but more detail than the agreement they made a week ago at 5 AM in the morning.

Sides are playing nice right now, but they don't trust one another. The PA is especially on edge after they claim the NHL tried to remove penalties to teams for incorrectly reporting HRR. The PA claims the clause was deleted, and the league made no mention of removing it.

I don't know how close you followed the lockout meetings, and I'm trying to do this from memory .....

The PA discovered the problem on Wednesday night. It was a huge blow up, and the sides didn't meet at all on Thursday. It honestly looked like this could destroy all the positive movement the sides had made.

Fortunately, a mediator met with both sides on Friday even though they never met face to face. The mediator (hero to all hockey fans ... ) got them in a room Saturday and got a deal signed.

Thanks man. I followed the lockout really close. I finally got a post college job recently and haven't had as much time to follow it.

98-2 wow. There we go!

Lites, Gulutzan, and Joe Nieuwendyk have all commented on it, and the consensus seemed to be Eakin, Benn, Oleksiak, Dillon, and Nemeth are locks.

Multiple sources confirmed junior players Ritchie and Faksa are at camp, but probably not with a very real chance of earning a job.

Fraser, Smith, Chiassion, and Sceviour are likely in the mix.

That said, the entire AHL team will hopefully scrimmage the Dallas roster on Monday and Tuesday ... assuming the league allows it. Dallas seemed to be the first to mention this tactic, but several other NHL teams are now looking for league approval as well.

It would be quite sick if they held this on the big rink in Frisco at night. I'd freaking be there.

This is from the same Heika article I reference in the AHL thread. Gulutzan broke down a potential camp schedule.
  • Sunday Morning: Physicals
  • Sunday Afternoon: 1 hour of hard practice; 20-minute walk-through of a mock scrimmage
  • Monday: 45-50 minute skate; 15 minute break; 30-35 minute PP session
  • Tuesday Morning: Hopefully Scrimmage (assuming he means with Texas Stars)
  • Wednesday: Hope to be close to who the roster will be
  • Thursday/Friday: Regular practice days leading up to any other game day
