CES just happened and Oakley will be releasing RED-RAY based off of their Red camera 4k technology and will be hybrid disc/download to get movies. Sharp showed their first 4k displays and expect them to hit this next holiday season. My guess is by holiday 2015 4k will be the norm and finding anything else will be tough. Sorry if I tend to ramble I just talked to some employees/clients about this.

Very cool, nevertheless, even if you didn't get as good of an education as you would've gotten from a Pac-12 school.
Tsk tsk

How can you not know about the Third Saturday in October.....there's NO way I could possibly be a fan of Tide football. Unless they're playing the Irish or some ridiculously overrated cream puff conference like the 12 PAC.

The great Pac 12 may not be the most powerful football conference right now, but they blow the SEC out of the water in pretty much everything else.

Not in a team sport played outside of the PAC 12. It's a wash in most of them, and men's basketball is also clearly SEC dominated. The PAC 12 hasn't been relevant there since Wooden was coaching.

They still blow them out of the water. Even in the sports the SEC won a national championship in last year, the PAC 12 is still 10x better. Even in Men's basketball, the PAC 12 is better, as I saw with my own two eyes UCLA DEZTROYY Mizzou, and isn't Missouri in the almighty SEC? PAC 12: 1 Ducks DVM: 0.

Where's you fancy logic now, boy?

Post from another board I frequent that I thought was hillarious:

1. Lubomir Visnovsky sent from Ducks to Islanders.
2. Lubomir Visnovsky expresses profound disinterest in ever playing on Long Island.
3. During the lockout, Lubomir Visnovsky plays in the KHL in his native Slovakia.
4. Lockout ends; Lubomir Visnovsky says he'll just be staying in Bratislava, thank you kindly.
5. Agreement apparently reached to bring Lubomir Visnovsky back stateside to play for the Islanders.
6. Islanders book flight for Lubomir Visnovsky; expected to take team physical Sunday.
7. Flight lands; Lubomir Visnovsky isn't on it.
8. Charles Wang offers reward of a trip for two anywhere in the continental U.S. and 50 Acme CrimeBucks for the capture of Lubomir Visnovsky.

IMO, and this is without much knowledge or experience seeing them at all, I would think that higher frame rate would be a better improvement than higher res. Wasn't 24 FPS was chosen back in the day because it was the absolute minimum that looked kind of fluid? And stuff was slower back then too.

As to higher resolution, well it would be useful in the theater. But at home, are screens even big enough and people close enough that you could really see the extra pixels? It's like those iPhone displays. The first jump up was good, but now companies are trying to compete by adding more pixels. But it's starting to get smaller than the dot pitch the eye is capable of seeing. So you're just wasting more data, processing power, and batteries to display stuff you can't even tell. The iPhone screen isn't really that much better because of the resolution. It's more that other stuff (color, contrast, etc) are better.

Although I would guess that there would be some resistance to higher FPS at first. People are used to things like motion blur and it kind of has become expected. Like it becomes this sort of alternate reality that people expect. Sort of like how in video games they add lens flare, when that doesn't represent reality but is simulating the artifacts added by cameras and lenses.

And blu-rays are just starting to get common. Wouldn't we need a new format for either of those improvements?

Mizzou was a mediocre Big 12 team that this year is now a mediocre SEC team.

Championships, last 10 years.
Football : SEC 8, PAC 12 - 2 (1 split between LSU &USC)
Men's basketball : SEC 3, PAC 12 - 0
Women's basketball : SEC 2, PAC 12 - 0
Baseball : SEC 3, PAC 12 - 3

Once you get out of the sports people actually watch....

Softball : SEC 1, PAC 12 - 8
Women's gymnastics : SEC 7, PAC 12 - 3
Men's gymnastics : SEC 0, PAC 12 - 2 (really, who watches this ever?)

Enjoy your track, swimming, softball, and men's gymnastics.....

EDIT - I checked. PAC 12 doesn't dominate in track or swimming either. Whoops.

Manti Te'o's "girlfriend"? I went to high school with him... He's our most famous alumnus since Elizabeth Lambert.

We got some winners up in the Antelope Valley...

When she pulled her hair... Did she killed her? (Don't know why but I imagine a meme cat watching that and asking that question)

But seriously, that chick looked dead.

Wow, Stan "The Man" just passed away, and Earl Weaver earlier. After reading Vecsey's book on Musial last year, it's hard not to love the guy. Have his stats along with Koufax, Clemente, Gehrig and Munson's written in my ball glove. R.I.P.

just bought tickets for Saturday's game. Wanted the home opener but Saturday works out better and I found cheap tickets through 714 tickets. I can't wait, I'm going to get a hotel room too so I don't have to drive all the way home.

Oh my god. What will the Trekkies think? As an obvious Star Wars fan, I like it. Especially because the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy made the digital lens flare popular. It's a match made in heaven.
