As I said, we'd need a better player coming back to trade a guy like Benn. I'd be pretty upset as a Kings' fan too if Kopi were dealt for anything less than an upgrade.

You sure he wouldn't do that? They'd remain right where they are

lol nice pun (if u ment it on kingdom) if u ment it as some sorta insult nice attempt (NOT) The kings and stars have made trades before (norstrom comes to mind)

Again voynov fills ur defenseman needs lokti fills 2nd center and a lst in 14 As for ur centers i would think you aquired derek roy to play the 1st center spot and lokti is capable of playing the second line spot. I also see Faska maybe close as well Yes its a little downgrade but if u can't sign him its not that bad of a return.

No way Dallas does this. Derek Roy was acquired to fill the void Ribeiro left temporarily (no clue if they have any intention of resigning him). Neiuwendyk wants size down the middle. Dallas is going to have the smallest centers in the league if Benn is traded for that package. Roy+Lokti as a 1-2 punch is brutal. And trading to LA? and division rival is just stupid since Dallas plays the Kings 7 times per year.

Pun not intended and not really intending to insult. I explained why that doesn't work for us.

Yes...an aging Norstrom who played one more season and then retired. Big difference between Benn and Norstrom.

I noticed Voynov is in the <6" range. We have 4 such d-men. No thanks on that.

Quote:

You would, and you'd be wrong...unless Benn's game regresses severely. Regardless of whether Benn plays 1c or 2c, Roy's a UFA and if he doesn't re-sign this off-season, we're screwed if we do this deal....royally (Pun intended!).

And so we wait until this chicken hatches while another season wastes away without a playoff spot? Maybe two more seasons? How about three? Good for you as a division rival, but not for us, eh?

As of now, his projection is 2nd line center and he's a good 2-3 years from playing in the NHL (conservative projection).

Yes its a little downgrade
OBVIOUSLY! Then why does JN do this if he wants to keep his job?

but if u can't sign him
We will sign him.

Dallas will resign Benn, unless...

Jamie, himself, demands a trade and there has been no indication of such.

It's a matter of how long it takes before Dallas caves in and gives Benn that long term contract. Or vice versa. Benn caves and takes GMJN's stupid bridge contract.

Snow has seemed desperate as of late.

Reinhart, Strome, Niederreiter, Okposo etc... Pretty much anyone but Tavares and Hamonic could be in play.

I cant see The Habs in on Benn. The cost would be too much to give up.

Exactly.

However The Habs finished in 3rd last place last season and I dont know if they are in a position to give up alot of assets to get Benn. Plus I am not so sure Benn is that true #1 center The Habs are looking for.

P.S. I am surprised you didnt say Subban +

While I am sure Snow could give a very enticing offer you guys would be better off continuing to build from within. If anything you should try to grab Ritchie to play with Strome.

In all honesty, Subban doesn't and has never enticed me.
Plus if we're giving up our best offensive Center we would have to get one in return.

NEVER lol
I think Ritchie could project to be something of a Corey Perry, maybe not score 50 goals in a season but probably 30 if not more.

Fair Enough. its just that whenever there is a Habs proposal on these boards all Hab fans hear is "Subban or GTFO"

anyways, Id love to have Benn on The Habs but I dont know if they have the assets to get him or if it would be worth giving up the assets to get him.

Neither Ennis or Hodgson are fringe top 6 players. Both have really high potential and have had success in this league. Ennis' season was ruined by a high ankle sprain, bit finished the last 20 games a PPG player. Add in Buffalo's best shutdown and minute eating defenseman, Sekera, on a great contract, there's definitely value there.

I would offer Hodgson, Sekera, +

Jamie Benn is easily worth more than a 30 year old injury prone player thats coming off a shoulder injury, and Sather would probably agree.

Benn is probably worth more than any individual player on the Rangers not named Lundqvist
