Yeah, in addition I think its important he takes every step seriously in coming back to the NHL and he certainly seems like he is.

It will show our prospects that regardless of who you are, you have to earn your way onto the team. Plus it will ensure he has confidence when he hits the team.

marlies are in st.john's for two games this weekend. a "blizzard of historic proportions" is just ramping up in st.john's, could be up to 75cm of snow with 110km/hr winds. starting now and lasting until tomorrow night. the marlies arrived in st.john's yesterday ahead of the storm, but we'll see if the game goes ahead tomorrow night.

Colborne and Ashton not invited to Leaf camp, only Kadri and Frattin and a bunch of D-men Kostka, Holzer, and a couple of others.

plenty of teams that arent inviting top prospects. we have no room for them because of the dead weight, and in order to maximize potential value return we need to try and get some of them on the roster.

Don't compare Colborne and Ashton with other team's top prospects.

I don't think I could live somewhere that could get 75cm of snow. That's insane.

Once you shovel your driveway so much more snow would have fallen that you would need to shovel yourself a path back to the door.

Another 3 point night ( 1 goal 2 assists) is he starting to fully recover from his injury and finally getting over his slump?

If you want to judge a Leafs prospect, you HAVE to watch him yourself - going by the opinions of other fans just doesn't work here.

They either get hyped and overhyped and stupidly hyped to the point where they are clearly going to fall flat and disappoint people purely out of the lofty heights that are created for them.

OR

They are crucified and torn up and every single aspect or weakness of their game is highlighted as a reason as to "why he won't make it".

Colborne is alright. Won't be top line material, has significant weaknesses in his game, but he has the skill and ability to be a regular NHLer.

I hate to be Debbie Downer, but my money's on a hot streak. I'd love to be wrong, though.

Maybe it's just me, but I thought he looked better in the NHL than he has in the AHL.

Few bits I saw him in the NHL, I though he was always behind the play and seemed lost, stood out as a player in over his head. But that's just me and I only saw a little of him.

Not looking good for big Joe, really dont get what happened after that big hotstreak early last year. I really thought that was his breakout moment.

Ever since the callup after that, he just hasn't been the same player AT ALL, just nowhere near as good. I hope he isn't giving up.

They always say big players like this take a while to find their groove. There's no rush.

The guy is about to turn 23, he's actually doing more regressing than growing.

give him a fair chance sure, but at almost 23, he hasn't shown nearly the same amount of spark that kadri has(who has been consistent in each season at least in the AHL.)

So what? Players don't hit their prime until they're like 27.

although if you're expecting mats sundin , then maybe you have a point? then again that's more a knock on you for having completely unreasonable expectations.

^This, thats how I see it as well. IMO he's looked better in the NHL and sometimes that happens with players. Playing with better players can bring out more in you.

Good to see him toughening up. He'll never be a solid NHLer unless he is willing to be tougher- ie. DRIVE TO THE NET.

I really like him though.
I'm more concerned that he's so slow. You can't teach that. For that reason I think there's areasonable chance he ill not make it in the NHL.

Just don't see it. Hopefully he figures it out...but his lack of passion on the ice doesn't give me a lot of hope.

I think the biggest thing with joes skillset is that he is a playmaking center. If his wingers are not able to pot in the pucks he gets onto their tape, then he isnt going to rack up the points.

I am not saying that is why he isnt performing in the AHL as the marlies are quite good, But more of why he would perform better in the NHL with quality shots on his wings like lupul or kessel he would get more assists.

Pretty sure he's tied for highest plus minus amongst forwards with Abbott at +10 and has 8points in his last 4. Lets hope he can extend that this afternoon
