I don't like generalizing folks on here, but I can't help but question your sanity if you think we should buy out Richards. That's simply asinine.

And there's also the fact that $6.67M is sustainable. We dealt with Drury for his final 2 seasons at 7M... unless he becomes Drury 2.0 (equivalent of Redden, all things considered), Richards WILL NOT be bought out.

If the Rangers were to sign Richards at 34 to a 6 year deal with a $6.67 million cap-hit, they would be crucified.

Yet for some reason discussing getting out of that same cap commitment is considered blasphemy.

The Rangers agreed to the contract in spite of the later years. To be able to get the early years of the contract without the commitment of the later years has to be given consideration.

Lets either get back on Del Zotto or split thread. I think Richards buyouts can be discusses in the Salary Cap thread.

While it's now doubtful @PKSubban1 will be in camp in the am, there is still hope Del Zotto and the Rangers can get it done tonight.

Hope to have a better feel for Del Zotto (NYR) and O'Reilly (COL) tomorrow. Negotiations ongoing
That came after mentioning that Benn, Subban and Kulikov were not close. To me, that at least means MDZ resigning is closer than those guys...

Dan Rosen @drosennhl
Subban, Del Zotto and O'Reilly are just a few of the expected newsmakers for the week. Oh, and some guy named Roberto, last name Luongo.

Craig Custance went to Rangers camp on Thursday. Custance wrote Richards and Nash showed excellent chemsity during that skate. If Richy and Nash are sympatico,Richards is going nowhere.

The NHL has a 48 game season plus the playoffs and a full season in 13-14 to get increase revenue for 14-15. The 15-16 cap is going up based on the CBC contract expiring after 13-14. The revenue for 15-16 will increase based on the new TV contract in Canada which will begin in 14-15. The Rangers and the other big market teams can help increase revenue in the next 18 months with some long playoff runs. I like Gaborik but the Rangers may be better built to use 2 players with that $7.5M. Another top D and a top 6 forward. 45% of the payroll in 4 players doesn't leave much for the entire roster. The CBA could have been much more worse. If Kelly was running the PA,he would have folded and we have had hockey much earlier but it would have been bad for the Rangers.

Nash likes to get the puck coming into the zone and Richards is there finding him.

Assuming left, because Gaborik was skating with them as well.
