Could be bad, but at the same time he has to understand that Gomez is pretty ****ing useless. With a guy like Therrien at the helm and the seemingly uninterested Gomez (at times) could really clash and cause problems mid season rather than before the season even starts.

This is worse then the brian burke firing. At least Burke can find work on other teams as a GM while still getting his full salary. Gomez can only sit at home and collect.

What is the point of sitting him out completely instead of sending him down?

Yeah, gong show between them and the Leafs....

Apparently Nonis is still asleep, while Bergevin is doing work.

Avoids injury risk; an injury would prevent a buyout.

so if they dump him does that open a spot for Galchenyuk to make the team?

Scott Gomez is bought out next year... but they want to avoid an injury. To avoid an injury they're sitting him for the year.

Thats it, they're paying him not to play.

If he wins it from Dumont and Gallagher.

They're also battling for a spot.

Gomez is getting Reddened.

Looks like Scott Gomez is getting Wade Redden Treatment in MTL. Stay home, get paid, count against cap and compliance buyout in summer.

Not necessarily. Gomez didn't fit anywhere in the lineup.

Bourque, Eller or even Gallagher would play on the second line to start the year.

Don't the most accidents happen at home?

If Gomez suffers a long term injury and it lingers into June, the Habs will not be able to amnesty Gomez in June. They would be stuck with him.

I hope this doesn't convince Bergevin to burn one year of Galchenyuk's ELC.

while his cap hit 7.5 his actual pay is 5.5(half due to the shortened season) and then 4.5 next year
