NHL rule changes happened

He would have had success in clutch/grab NHL. Didn't help that Barker showed very little heart/effort either

That's what we (Oiler fans) said last year. Then injuries forced him to play in our top6 occasionally. It was a disaster.

He's not really useful as a hockey player, but maybe someone in the Canucks staff can glean some value from him.

Does anyone know if he can play the right side? If he does, then I'm perfectly okay with this signing.

He couldn't hack it on the worst team in the NHL. Why the hell would you a waste a contract slot and 700k to sign this deadbeat?

Well, they found the one guy worse than Gragnani at defense.

I said the same thing when Gillis signed Sturm. As of now, we can spend to the cap for this year. It's a 1 year deal, and he's pretty far back on the depth chart. Just an insurance signing. So it's not that bad.

No work ethic. Tons of offensive talent but just never cared to get better, people figured him out, and he's just bombed out since.

There is a reason he went 3rd overall in his draft. If he puts it together this could be one heck of a move. And if he doesn't well goodbye (at any time the Nucks decide).
funny, that's what the Oilers said last season.

People are really freaking out about this, he's gonna be what the 8-10th dman? Not exactly like he's taking a regular shift. Whats wrong with a little depth on a team that usual has alot of injuries to the back end

Man...I wish I sucked and earned 700K.

Cam Barker has to be the luckiest guy ever. Teams still give him a chance in the NHL.

That doesn't make much sense, as he entered the nhl following the last lockout. Obstruction was called tightest in the year or two following the last lockout, when Barker had the most success and was highly thought of.

This man was cut from an AHL team this year.. he'd be lucky to be the 12th dman for Vancouver.

Isn't Vandermeer skating with the Canucks? Seems like he'd be a much better choice.

Horrible player. Will pretty much take Gragnani's spot in the system, so hopefully never seen on the ice.

Coming from an Oilers fan whose team has been at the bottom for the last few years. This guy has to be one of the worst defensemen I have ever seen in the NHL
