Didn't he get released by the Texas Stars? He was atrocious in the AHL this year from what I saw.

You could find better 10th defenseman that Cam Barker...1st...2nd 3rd, it doesn't really matter, Cam Barker sucks.

He's as bad as Brett Lebda.

Garrison. Jason Garrison replaced Sami Salo. Cam Barker is replacing Aaron Rome.

Ah. Well from what I gather the canucks organization is one of the best at instilling work ethic...they've had success with players like Higgins and Lapierre who also had trouble in that area.

I'll wait to see what happens with this signing. At worst the signing costs the canucks nothing but money.

I really hope he has to dress for a game, and if so, it's against the Oil.

Yeah because he worked out so well in Minnesota and Edmonton right?

You've got two different division rivals telling you that Barker is awful, might wanna take our advice and keep your expectations for him in the basement somewhere packed away near the Christmas decoration.

We're screwed if that's the case. If he replaces Gragnani, then it's ok.

Cam Barker has been the worst defenseman in between lockouts easily.

It's only because many of us have actually watched Barker play within the last couple years.

I'm so excited the Oil have a chance to play Cam up to 5 times this year.

Barker is pretty awful but with a team as good as the Canucks he should at least be serviceable. It's not like they have to slot him in their top four.

Coming from an Oilers fan he's the worst defenceman I've seen play for them since Cory Cross but like I said the Canucks are a much better team so maybe they can instill some work ethic in him.

You guys are nuts. Only on HF would there be this kind of backlash for taking a shot on a guy like Barker redeeming his career... Anything to jump all over Vancouver I guess...

The guy was released by an AHL team. Sums it up, really. No business being in the NHL at all, especially on one of the best teams in the league.

really, really bad.
and the wild bought him out for a reason

this is going to be so much fun. I can truly say to the canuck fans who like this signing--Enjoy his play--the rest of the west will

Barker is a nice guy

few problems

1) can not play D
2) Lack hockey sense
3) Often forgets he is on the ice
4) Gets beaten to the outside and inside a lot
5) Can be lazy

Without sounding like too much of an egotistical homer, but the Canucks organization has been leaps and bounds better than both the Wild and Oilers in recent history. If you had to pick a team that could get results out of him from that group of 3 it would be the Canucks.

And the Dallas Stars organization is very sad to see him go.

Oh stop whining with the us against the world mentality. People said the same thing when the Oilers signed him last year.

I'm not sure wich teams are happier... Eastern teams (Foster) or Western teams (Barker).

Are we talking over the entire duration?

I remember a game against the Atlanta Thrashers where the score was 9-3 win for Toronto.

Brett Lebda was a -3. Almost expected.

guess what

when the oilers signed him we warned and laughed at

we thought we had stolen a player that people were over looking and guess what--we were banging our head against wall VERY quickly with this guy

here is a comment from Lowetide (former mod on oiler board from his website in march)
Cam Barker: I can’t imagine the club will retain his services, but the entire decision to sign him in the first place was curious. Sometimes NHL teams do weird things for weird reasons.

btw

went to a canuck fan board I am member of

"A (cam) Barking mad of a roster move"

Oiler fans got jumped and laughed at when we thought we stole the player--boy were we wrong
