Hannan, Blum
Awful for us. IF we did that id call for Poiles head.... We need offense

halischuck gets benched when he doesn't move his legs. when he is grinding and working hard, he is a very solid player. when he stops it for whatever reason, he sits in a suit

Josi will be playing with Weber on the top pairing, and will be getting PP time. I would guess he scores about 30 points, but if he breaks out, it could be more.

Josi may be my favorite player on the team but I am not convinced he will remain in the top paring. He may very well start out there, however there is the Trotz factor in play. The good thing is we will know sooner rather than later.

While I agree to some degree I think we have to let Josi stay there. Who else is an option? Ellis or Blum are the only two that make sense from the stand point of being PMD. I'm sure Josi will do just fine.

Trotz said he's starting Erat, Fisher and Kostitsyn together as a line
Interesting choice; don't think many people saw that coming. I like it, but worry about our other top line. Wilson/Legwand/Hornqvist is my guess. Only other option I see is to either bump Legwand to wing, drop Hornqvist to the third line, and have Smith center. Or have Smith play wing, Horny still drops, and Legwand remains at Center. Trotz likes Hornqvist though so I expect:

Erat/Fisher/SK74
Wilson/Legwand/Hornqvist
Halischuk/Smith/Spaling
Yip/Goose/Mueller

When Bourque comes back, Mueller falls off lineup, Spaling drops to Mueller's wing spot, and Bourque plays third line wing. Not sure what you do with Spaling; we have five centers and four spots. Goose is never leaving the face-off dot, Fisher isn't moving either, and Smith is being groomed to become a top 6 center. Legwand can move, but I think Spaling is the most likely one to give.

I'd like to see Smith and Wilson together though. They have pretty good chemistry. Wilson/Smith/Bourque would be a dangerous third line, but I don't know how you make it work. We really need another top 6 forward.

There was no on-ice practice today. Preds will be on the ice Monday through Friday from 10 to 11:30 AM this week for training camp.

really? no one saw sk-fisher-erat coming?

I wouldn't be surpised to see sith on a wing with wilson/hornquist with leggy at center.

74-12-10
15-11-33/27
24-13-33/27
18-28-mueller.

once bourque is back, and all things being right , he will probably bump halischuk to the 4th line again.

Victor Bartley has been recalled from Milwaukee for training camp this week. Bartley will give the Preds 8 defensemen in camp and allow them to scrimmage and run players through lines without rotating.

Bartley has played most of the season in Milwaukee with Ryan Ellis as his partner, but will likely suit up with Jon Blum if I had to guess this week. Gill and Ellis were the third pair last season and likely will get the first look at camp this year...

no way would arguably our best player get traded for an immobile defenseman.

makes sense.... I see Blum starting the year as our #7 and Bartley is likely the injury call-up so good to gt him some reps withthe big club...

and did I read correctly that re-entry waivers have been abolished in the new CBA?

is that going to allow teams to pay players more at the AHL level on two way deals?

What is the scouting report on Bartley? Mainly concerning playstyle and other intangibles not discernible from a stat sheet. Where does he fit in a force ranking with Blum / Ellis / Ekholm? I'm guessing he's at the end, but frankly know nothing about him. I need to watch more Admirals games.

he's a steady AHL defenseman, more in the offensive mold. Good skater, good passer. Not a huge guy.

I think he's a good option for call-ups, spot duty, maybe even to play the "Hillen" role, but with that said, the other guys you named all have significantly more NHL upside. All of them will have NHL careers, whereas I see Bartley's chances as being considerably less.

Been putting together my own training camp rosters and I cannot find a Predators roster to save my life. Does anyone have one? I'm stumped.

This does not include late addition Victor Bartley on defense.

Why did we bring in Hillen instead of keeping Bouillon again?

Bouillon is 37, Hannan is 33. Hannan is also 6-1 and 225 lbs. I know Cube played bigger then his size but I think Bouillon has seen his better days.

You can probably write these in pencil, but here are the Predators practice lines from their first day on ice. Trotz said to not read too much into Colin Wilson being on the third line.

Kostitsyn-Fisher-Erat

Smith-Legwand-Hornqvist

Wilson-Gaustad-Halsichuk

Spaling-Mueller-Yip

Josi-Weber

Hannan-Klein

Gill-Ellis
Ha...Wilson is already in the house
