Before the lockout, habs had Gomez counting against the cap and in the NHL roster. We were spending to the cap.
Rangers were also spending to the cap, but Redden wasn't counting against the cap because he was in the AHL. Except now, it appears that Redden's cap hit counts in the AHL (minus 900K). For this season, isn't it creating problems for the rangers?
EDIT:
yeah they can still fit everything in according to capgeek. Nevermind.
I'm kind of surprised here tbh. After all, I had been told that Scott's value would be at an all time high around now, when all these cap floor teams come beating down the door for him.
What happened?
Because cap floor teams don't perpetuate that myth that is ever so prevalent here on HFBoards.
What's also sad is that seeing what is happening to Gomez, no team has come up front and offered him the opportunity to give him one last chance.
Most teams can't afford to gamble with that contract. I think we are finally seeing the downside to some of those ridiculous contracts given over the last CBA.
I think once Gomez is bought out he will be able to find a team and I wish him the best at that time, but for now he's toxic.

If his contract was heavily front loaded, you could get some interest from the poorer teams. However he is still owed 10 millions over two years (or closer to 8 with a short season) if not bought out which gives him negative value.
what happened to burying his cap hit in the minors? I am disappoint
You can't bury caps in the minors anymore. Also, if he breaks his leg in Hamilton, we may have his cap on the books next year. With the cap dropping, they have no choice. Unless you'd rather not sign Subban.
Very Taylor/Sandel like. Do we ever have a philosophical bad ass here.
If I recall, we were both applying for masters at McGill last year, weren't we? I took the concept of ontological security from Jennifer Mitzen who wrote on it in an IR context. If you ever got to do any IR theory, you'd know her primarily for being Alexander Wendt's wife.

yeah we were. I absolutely love the way you tied into Gomez's situation so well. I don't do IR, but ontological security sounds interesting, might have to give it a read.
Am I the only one here who thought Gomez came to the training camp and seeing a different Gomer ? I am actually pissed that we are paying him doing jack****... What if we lose Plekanec & Eller in the next 2-3 weeks ?

Sign me, I will score more than Gomez. You have to be ********?!? You honestly think Gomer is worth keeping around? Almost anyone on this Earth could do what he did last year and at alot less!!

Do you really think he could do worse ? Having him play 48 games and getting 20-25points on the 3-4 lines would have been decent for me.
