Meaning that they may be reluctant to give up what he is asking, my guess.

Exactly. Yandle is a great defensman on a long term, money friendly deal, and O'Reilly is not. No deal.

Someone mentioned Plekanec though, i like the idea of that. not for Yandle straight up, but maybe a deal could be worked.

I think you are underestimating ROR here.
He should or could have been a Selke candidate last year and was one of the Avs leading point getter ( we broke a record for fewest PP last year or were close to it)

I think ROR is the perfect Tippet player. But if you factor in what happened to Turris and that ROR is essentially right now in the same spot (ok very different circumstances but still he is not with the team at training camp) I don't think that GMDM would pull the trigger on this deal.

It would make sense. Especially if we get Yandle coming back, that might make subban expendable for help up front. That is a lot of ifs though.

Oi! Totally forgot Yandle extended. That definitely changes my perception of his value.

Marc Bergevin, in the press conference this morning sounded like a priority was to shed salary for PK's contract and because where the cap ceiling was going to be at for next season.

However.....

There are a few problems.

1. Plekanec has a NTC he has stated he loves in Montreal and his friend Kaberle is there playing with him.

2. The Habs are most likely still wanting to compete. Phoenix is in the same boat, so I don't see them offering up a whole lot to get Plekanec, cause it will be a half decent price to acquire him.

IMO. I think the best fit for a deal is with Edmonton.

Gagner has been on the block from the few weeks leading up to last seasons Trade Deadline. Edmonton is also looking for a dman for their top 4.

I could see the main base of a deal such as:

Sam Gagner
+

Keith Yandle

I know the type of player he is, he's awesome. Just not a legit number one center. If anybody on the Yotes can fetch us a top line center, Yandle can. I believe that is the only circumstance we trade Yandle in.

Krejci is more looked at as a number 1 center. Craig Morgan said himself, specifically, a Yandle for Krejci deal is unlikely.

That's an easy deal for you to type out right? Means there is no way the Coyotes give up Yandle, with the biggest piece coming back is Gagner. If you want Yandle, you had better be ready to start negotiations with your fab five untouchables.

EDIT: lol my bad, you're a Habs fan. But c'mon dude...still.

Oilers fans love tossing Gagner out as trade bait. Krecji / Yandle would make HFBoards interesting for the better part of a week.

Im not a fan of Edmonton or anything lol, I did put a plus, but it strictly says they are looking for a #2 Center. But it would work "gagner +"

Would have to agree with this.

Ryan O'Reilly has 1 season with more than 26 points. Of course, there's a ton of potential there and he is coming off a great year, but Yandle is a #1 defenceman who's 26 years old and in possession of a great contract.

Realistically, the only centre mentioned in this thread that I've seen who'd be good enough to get Phoenix to put Yandle on the table, would be Krejci, IMO.

That being said, I'm sure the Coyotes would make a pretty good package available for ROR.

Beyond that, Toronto would likely be willing to part with a centre for help on the blueline, a guy like Klesla would probably be the target.

Pretty sure some variation of this is the backup plan to whatever Maloney is attempting.

Im hoping its Lombardi or Connolly. Although calling either of them a top 6 player at this point is stretching the truth. They could be had quite cheaply.

He's not a center, but:

Milan Michalek for Yandle?

I don't know how much interest Phoenix has in uniting the brothers.

Out to lunch on this one for a number of reasons. The Oilers can ill afford right now to trade Gagner unless they get a C in return or have a option for a 2nd line C. No matter how good Yandle is the Oilers have Petry and J.Schultz and don't need another PMD. Like Yandle, but after watching J.Schultz for last 3 months I'm not sure why you trade for him. J.Schultz may not be as good as Yandle right now, but watch out, he looks like the real thing.

I hear the Oilers like Henrik Samuelsson and maybe see a trade involving him.
