NHL Game Center Live

I just moved to Toronto and was thinking about getting NHL GameCenter Live (and run it through HDMI to TV). Anyway, I'm not clear - will I be able to watch blacked-out Senators games in Toronto?

Cause if I can't, well, ****** it... anybody know?

Pretty sure being in Toronto, the only games you won't get are Toronto's games. Could be wrong.

That's what I thought. So I don't get to watch the Leafs lose, I can live with that.

Only when they play us. Double check though, I've got gamecenter but I've never attempted to watch a Sens game on it because they're on TV.

But do you live in Ottawa? I think games Sens are blacked out in Ottawa if they're using a local or regional broadcaster. In Toronto I should be able to get them.

In Toronto, all Sens games on SportsNet Ontario (not SportsNet east), TSN, and CBC will be blacked out.

Generally, it works like this: if the game is not available on local cable, it is available on Game Centre.

The good news is that TSN seems to be streaming all their Wednesday games and CBC streams all their games. That covers a large portion of the season.

OP,

It depends on which sportsnet the games are. I have a Toronto IP address, so when GameCenter checks my IP, it thinks I'm in Toronto, and I believe Sportsnet East games are blacked out for me. The only ones not blacked out are games on Sportnet One. Of course, you can always bypass that restriction with a VPN.

CBC's online quality is not that great at all if your watching anything on CBC just get a pair of bunny ears and pick it up in HD from the air.

Watching the crosby game right now on Arials for free

Are you kidding? The quality is HORRIBLE.

Maybe that's because I'm used to streaming in Full HD with Gamecenter.

I do what the OP does, with the exception that i run it through Witopia VPN service. Log into a US server and i get every broadcast game. With hdmi connections the quality is pretty good.

Yep, get a good VPN service. Strongvpn.com is pretty good as well. I usually get 20Mbps+ sustained throughput which is great for a VPn service.

I use unblock-us... I find it works pretty well as well.

You get booted off GameCentre occasionally, but you just sign back on and you're good to go.

I have had GCL all season - really not impressed so far. The quality is high, it's really clear, but it tends to be really choppy and cut out. I usually end up switching to a lower quality stream on atdhenet.

The problem might be my computer but it's pretty new and my Internet is fast. It's been annoying so far because after 5 days you can't cancel

Make sure your flash player is updated, and make sure that hardware acceleration is working.

I did update flash but will look into this hardware acceleration. I'm assuming my experience isn't typical but it's been a pain in the ass so far.

I don't spend too much time/money on computer stuff nowadays but just assumed my 18 month old laptop should be able to handle it as it plays everything else fine.

But I'm in TO and don't have cable so GCL is relatively cheap compared to getting cable + centre ice. Otherwise not a lot of Sens action on TV

Why would you want to subject yourself to that type of torture?

Gamecentre is great quality and I will be streaming them this season. On nights when Bingo is playing I'll have to defer to Bingo given the availability of free Ottawa streams that will be available.

You're not getting anything good over VPN bro. It's not meant for transmitting video.

I did exactly what the OP is intending to do in Toronto last season and it worked perfectly. Streams were HD quality and the only games not available were the rare tsn games or sens vs. leafs CBC games which were streamed on their own sites anyways.
