If you look closely, I'm the guy with the beard, and orange and black beanie in the lower left corner.

Thanks for the update.

Leblond has the raddest profile picture on Eliteprospects.

Watched Lablond play a good a mount of times with the Albany Devils. Would love it if he made the roster, but I cant see us cutting Staubitz in favor of him, theyre more or less here for the exact same thing.

Staubitz is a middleweight with no skill Leblond is a legit heavyweight fighter with slightly better skill and will actually enforce with a mean streak.

Seeing how the Ducks doesn't have a whole lot of players under contract currently, I'm guessing Leblond should have a very good chance to get a deal with the Ducks, especially since he's also the only try out invite. A 2-way deal should work for both sides.

In an interview Murray said that Bonino have worked a lot off the ice.

How he looked individually, and how with Bobby and Teemu?

I wish I could comment more its really hard to judge who was playing the best as it was just drills today. One thing I can comment on is all three of our goalies looked really good today.

@icemancometh: Will transcribe recorder later but Boudreau also said he wants to "challenge" Nick Bonino at second-line center spot.
As expected, Holland is not the intended 2C at this point

So I must had been in the team store or the bathroom when Hiller got hit in the head, didn't even see it and I was sitting on his side the whole time. He looked pretty good the entire time.

Palmieri was with Getz and Perry which is what I don't understand, if they thought there was a chance he'd play with them why has he been playing RW in Norfolk and Syracuse this whole time?

BB seemed set on Bonino starting out as 2nd line center, and looked good with Teemu and Bobby. That means Holland will most likely be 4th line center, which is good under BB's system.

Allen looked huge out there. Etem won't make it IMO, had a nice shot and beat Hiller a few times but others were better all around, he needs AHL time. I liked that tryout dude (haha already forgot his name) he and Getzlaf were against each other in the beginning of practice where they had to steal the puck from each other. It was very entertaining haha, both made some nice moves.

Thats all I got, don't know how to assess talent that much, the free hats were nice haha. About half of the lower bowl was all filled, don't think thats 5,000 though.

Ryan-Bonino-Teemu

With Bonino's playmaking ability, that line could be super dangerous

The hat was from hat night two years ago, and the shirts were from two years ago as well.

Boudreau was impressed by Belesky.

I swear the guy said about 5,000 before the Q&A. That does seem a bit much as the 400s probably have more seats than the 200s.

I don't like that Bonino is the 2C by default (another example of Murray identifying a need but not actually addressing it) but I do like that he's being eased in on a line with Ryan and Teemu. If those two can make Andrew Ebbett look like a 2nd liner then Bonino should be ok.

I still think there's higher upside if Holland is used there and pans out.

Palmieri was on fire today. One of the best shots on the team imo. RPG looked normal, Teemu looked good, everybody played how I expected them, but Palmieri impressed me.

Tim Ryan said there was over 5,000, and there was. The entire north side of the 200s was filled, and that's about 4,000 or so seats.

yeah he did say 5,000. He said they expected 500-1000, but 5,000 showed up. I'm guessing he missed spoke, but hey whatever not a big deal. And yeah I had one of those shirts from a couple years ago too. The hat I've also seen before.

Notes -

- Fasth looks solid as a backup and I am not as worried about him.
- Rakell has some seriously sick and fast hands
- I think the line up that was presented worked out nicely and these jobs are for these players to loose.
- The D Pairs looked pretty good, I am still worried about Souray though. He is more mobile then I remember but no where close to where we need him to be
- 2nd PP unit looked interesting with only Sbisa on the back end, using Ryan, Palms, Holland and Bonino up front seems like a BB kind of play.
- PL3 looked like the enforcer that BB would want. One that can play solid and still throw a punch - I expect a 2-way for him.
- The new 3rd line looks like it could really work nicely with Koivu, Winnik, and Cogs. Winnik looked really solid with Koivu on the PK.
- After the main practice was over Sami Vatanen took the ice for a few one on one drills so he may be getting a look and I believe I saw Hampus in the visitor tunnel too but he never took the ice.

I got to meet another HFboarder there and we talked most of the camp. I was pretty happy with the whole deal.

Much more realistic number

Told actual attendance for Ducks camp opener was 2,514. Not bad at all considering so little advance notice.

They aren't going to set a line based on potential though. If Bonino falters, I'm sure Holland will get his chance.

Bonino has proved he can play offense and responsible defense at NHL speed. Holland has proved he's where Bonino was 2 years ago. Holland can start on the lower lines just like everyone else does, and if he's better, he'll get promoted. Planning in a rookie as your 2C is playing for a lottery pick.

Yeah, that number looks right. 1,000 was too small and 5,000 too big. But what ever, it was a bigger turnout than I think anyone thought, especially on such short notice.

I agree that writing Holland in as the #2 center is not what we're looking for, but Id have preferred it be an open competition than Bonino's spot right off the bat. Holland has been very impressive in the AHL from what I've read, and it would have been really interesting to see that battle. I think Holland makes the squad on the 4th line though, seeing as there are really no other centers in camp. I just dont want to see him wasted playing with say Beleskey and Staubitz.

Mostly true except the fourth line was a rotation of a bunch of players
