Whether you're insulted or not is not the issue. The issue is whether a fan base should accept such a weak explanation. And I think you guys missed the boat on the Oilers model. MLSE has given Burke/Nonis 4 years to do that. Now they want resuts. You can't really blame them as they are running a business.

He has a NTC, not a NMC. And suppose you keep him for 6 years, then trade him to Florida for a 7th rounder as a veteran backup. It would be the equivalent of having him on a 6 year contract instead.

I still don't understand the panthers going for him. Is markstrom really going to be a back up for 6-7 years till luongo leaves. He's a top end goalie prospect.

Well, if he retires while with Toronto, it would be 2 mil for 3 years. If he were traded to a third team before retiring, it would likely be even less(Don't ask me to do the math).

In what will probably be an 80 million cap, the impact of that is minimal.

Okay. Can't help it when Leafs fans post offers, though, and we are forced to shoot them down.

Kulemin
Blacker
Colbourne
2013 4th
2014 4th

For

Luongo
Raymond/Schroder
2013 3rd

I think this is a fair deal all around, TO wins value wise IMO. Toronto gives up a top 9 fwd and two B prospects and a pair of low/mid round picks. It doesn't gut the roster or its youth or "rebuilding picks" and gives another 3rd in a deep draft. Vancouver gets bigger. All win. Double rainbows all the way!

Is it a bad thing having a proven #1 and a top prospect? The Bruins and Canucks have had very good success with it. Two more years in the minors for Markstrom and then 3 years as Lu's backup is 5 years before the salaries are an issue.

And who knows, not every prospect works out.

No thank you. Kulemin is the only player who I think *might* become an impact player.

I'm not at all sold on Colborne, and Blacker is nothing special either. I'd much rather keep Luongo.

Heck, there's even a chance Raymond is better than Kulemin next season, in which case it's simply just an awful trade for us.

Have fun losing Kessal after he walks cause your inept orgnaization hasn't made the playoffs years. I fully expect you guys to go a full decade without. Are you guys happy with that?

If you can trade for a top 10 goalie for pennies on the dollar and the cap hit really doesn't matter (Panthers will never spend to the cap) might as well do it and just do the exact same thing the Canucks have done for the past few seasons for the next 3-4 years, by that time the actual money owed to luongo drops and you can give markstrom the starting job.

Again, the key is paying pennies on the dollar

I think you and I both know that you would insert Kulemin on the 1st line with the Sedin's and he would light it up.

As much as I would like to do right by Lu and send him back to Florida, pennies on the dollar won't happen. I mean this with all due respect and sincerity, good luck to Florida in the coming season with Theodore/Clemmensen/Markstrom, hope to see you in the finals.

if you buyout a player, can you resign him to a lower contract?

These are the posts that make me laugh.

Luongo isn't the savior. you can sell him to us all day....we don't have a team ready to win; so we aren't going to mortgage.

Leaf fans say: 'Keep him'
Canucks fans say: 'OK'
Then talk out of the side of their mouth saying: 'leafs suck, you need our goalie'

Who looks more desperate in this situation?

Moving on....run with 2 elite goalies....like you all say, it's not a hindrance...Some are going to make these proposals, because the writing is on the wall.

No one is saying you should sell the farm, but to just flat out say ''we don't want him'' is, sorry, retarded.
