The pressure on GMMGto get a return is big.

If he trades Luongo to TML then that return best be substantial enough because every fan in Vancouver who tunes into Hockey Night in Canada on Saturday night and sees Luongo raise his arms in another TML win will then turn their attention to what we got in return. If that is a 3rd or 4th liner sitting in the press box I would say his days as GM would be numbered.

It is far preferred to send him to a place far less visible so that he does not haunt the Canucks and their fans. This is why if TML is in the mix the trade is not a low ball one.

That's the take from West Point Grey.

I say this is Nonis first trade, Luongo for Kulemin and 3rd or Luongo and Ballard for Kulemin, Komisarek and 3rd.

Canucks fans are honestly hilarious. Luongo isn't going to solve our problems. Yeah, he fills goaltending, but he's hitting his mid 30s, he doesn't have too many years left in him. Plus, if we trade Bozak and Kadri, that depletes us heavily at centre. Our most versatile centre along with our best centre prospect (and 2nd best prospect behind Rielly) are both gone in one trade.

Who's to say that we will make the playoffs for sure with Luongo? Why should we mortgage the future again, just to see moderate immediate success and not even come close to a Cup?

Likewise, Nonis should be fired if he trades Kadri and Gardiner for Luongo.

I just don't see how the Canucks and Leafs can be trading partners. Canucks want too much for Luongo, Leafs can't afford to give up too much. There's just no reasonable offer.

Canucks fans say: 'OK'
Then talk out of the side of their mouth saying: 'leafs suck, you need our goalie'

Who looks more desperate in this situation?

Moving on....run with 2 elite goalies....like you all say, it's not a hindrance...Some are going to make these proposals, because the writing is on the wall.
Same deal as Leafs fans muttering about the Canucks having to deal him, don't be so smug in that respect pal.

As for not being a saviour...he was for us, the year we got him, we were expecting a lottery pick, and we hit round two of the playoffs. The 2013 Leafs is a better team then the 2006-2007 Canucks, so it only follows we think he will make that kind of impact on your team.

Not necessarily. Just because someone's opinion is different than yours doesn't make that opinion retarded.

So...I can't be facetious, but your side can be? Awesome, and Leafs wonder why no one wants a rumour about their player to Toronto to slip out...

Gillis should take w.e he gets now, lou's value will just keep dropping, sitting on the bench and getting older

If one thing everyone should be honest about is we all want a trade that will make our team better. You aren't in this thread because you have no interest.

When did Bozak become your "most versatile centre"? If that's the case, maybe you'd prefer trading Grabovski instead?

Probably won't be sitting on the bench, most likely getting 50% of the starts. I guess having two stellar goaltenders isn't the norm for you guys so you can't really understand it.

Toronto should offer whatever they can, all their players values keep dropping with every game they lose and every playoff they miss.

I saw the other day on Canucks Global that Schnieder got the nod as the go to guy this season.

And wouldn't Leafs fans know what a good goalie can do for a team after their years with Joseph and belfour?

Unbelievable, then again it's been a decade so maybe they have forgotten.

History. History says that. Stats, they say that too.

We're bad trading partners, but it seems to be all Toronto fans in a thread about Canucks goaltenders, so I really don't have an answer.

The pieces we can use, a top six center, playmaking top six winger or right handed top 4 defender, Toronto either doesn't have, or is in no position to move.

Bingo! Bad trading partners, terrible, terrible trading partners. It's best left to the other 5 rumoured teams, I think Toronto was listed to sell papers TBH.

Big difference, that was 6 years ago, Luongo was only 27-28. Luongo isn't the same anymore, still good but not good enough to carry this team to anything substantial, let alone a division title like he did with the Canucks that year. Plus, you guys still had the Sedins and Kesler on the roster. Obviously, they were only fractions of the players they are now back then, but they developed nicely. We lack the same level of prospects up front. Canucks were set for centre, we have no one and trading away Kadri and Bozak only makes that worse.

Luongo is not a viable option for this team unless we get him cheap, and that obviously isn't going to happen.

you really think they are going to split 50/50... I doubt it. They will prolley run with one goalie throughout the playoffs

We'll run with whatever goalie is running hottest to end the season. If either starts looking shaky, we can change it up to guarantee the best chance of having a goalie play lights-out.

Training camp has been going for less then a day...3 games does not a starter make. Whoever does better out of the gate will start, and it will be closer to 50/50 then ever before.

Frankly most Canuck fans would rather the trade was to Florida or elsewhere that has a lot of prospects.

Some Leafs fans are right in saying it's very hard to see a deal between the Canucks and Leafs, but to say the Leafs don't need a goalie is laughable.

Not sure why Canuck fans come off as "desperate" for wanting a decent, not crazy, return for Luongo.

Again probably worst case is Luongo and Schneider go back and forth again like last season (where they were the team MVPs... literally carried the team for 3 months...) and Luongo is moved at the deadline or in the offseason when more teams go "wow we misread our goaltending" and have the ability to buyout players.
