Exactly what a team who hasn't been to the playoffs in 7 years needs, a stiff goon who can't play hockey to save his life. He is a liability every time he hops over the boards.

Sad part is Mac will probably take a roster spot over Kadri.

Umm what? Since when is Kadri competing for a spot on the 4th line?

Since forever. He's been on the Marlies since being drafted. Until now he hasn't been good enough to make the 1st 2nd 3rd or 4th line.

Kadri is not competing for a spot on the 4th line... you worry about the bruins

What does Kadri have to do with a RUMOR about Steve MacIntyre

Or he was never in the running for a 4th line spot. You can't seriously think that Kadri playing on the 4th line all year is a realistic option...

Toronto has been one of the worst teams in the NHL, and Kadri has been unable to crack their roster. End of story. Don't kid yourselves, Kadri is certainly competing for a spot,, on ANY line.

seems kind of pointless, like an orr who is a marginally better fighter and a much worse hockey player. And compared to orr that's something to say...

Exactly.

Prust would have been a better addition, he can actually play effective minutes, and kills penalties. Mac is useless. Waste of a roster spot.

Goons have a purpose. If the Leafs are in playoff contention during the home stretch and someone takes a run at Kessel/Gardiner, you need to have a goon to go in there and make an example of him. To try and hurt him as much as possible. Hopefully deter anyone from making the same mistake twice.

I like the signing.

This isn't the 80's,, goons serve no purpose. In today's NHL, pulgists must be able to play a normal shift without putting their team at a disadvantage. Hybrids, guys who can fight but play.

Who takes runs at Gardiner and Kessel? That's such a bs cliche statement.

12 roster spots for forwards. If one of those spots belongs to Mac,, your team will not be in the playoffs.

It is very much cliche, but there is a reason guys like this get jobs. If someone is breaking the unwritten rules, they need to be punished from within. It is how hockey has been since the game started.

Not sure if this is legit. But Mac could pummel Lucic for fun. Huge signing if true, I don't care if he's a scrub, he's one of the best fighters.

I'd be happy for him to earn a spot out of camp, but except him to see more AHL time than NHL time.

Says the Boston Fan, Boston not only beat us convincingly on the scoreboard last season, but they also humiliated the leafs physically too.

MacIntyre might not play every single game, but IMO he'll be invaluable against a team like Boston, who has a history of taking liberties on Leaf players. Physically Boston enjoys beating on Toronto, at least with MacIntyre, you definitely won't see a lot of Lucic and his tough guy face, I think you'll see more of the faces he expressed when facing Laraque in Montreal. Boston plays better when the intimidate teams, at least Toronto, and IMO a guy like MacIntyre is going to abruptly stop the Bruins physical confidence/cockyness when they walk into Toronto.

Yup. Mac as a 13th man would be great. Stick him in versus the bruins and make him Kessels body guard lol.
