Clowe to Buffalo

To Buffalo
Ryane Clowe

To San Jose
Drew Stafford
2nd round pick
Conditional 3rd (if Clowe resigns)

San Jose needs some more speed in their lineup so they get Stafford and much needed draft picks as they have a horrible prospect pool.

Buffalo needs beef in their lineup and Clowe adds that. He won't put up with some player running over Miller. He'll bring a veteran presence/leadership role to the young Sabres. Can also take Foligno under his wing as a younger powerforward.

Where is the advantage to Buffalo? Stafford could be used for Bobby Ryan or another player.

Clowe is like Stafford in his walk year.

I pass on this deal.

Stafford has more value than Clowe.

I don't love Stafford, but that is a lot to add to get and older Clowe on an expiring contract, who doesn't play center. I'd be hesitant to give up Stafford, alone, for Clowe.

Lol, done so easily.

If you need a center we can even toss Handzus in for free

But seriously though, Stafford > Clowe, imo. Younger, faster and fits our need of a shoot-first kind of winger.

No thanks. Stafford's younger, signed longer, and has good chemistry with Ennis. No way I'm adding all that extra stuff to him for Clowe.

Would the Sabres consider the following?

To Buffalo
Ryane Clowe
2nd round pick
3rd round pick

To San Jose
Drew Stafford

Clowe for Stafford straight up probably makes more sense. Sabres add grit, Sharks add youth. Easy.

The Sharks wouldn't. I'd take Stafford straight up for Clowe.

clowe for Stafford straight up is more even. probably a conditional pick going to buffalo based on whether or not clowe re-signs.

Buffalo passes on this deal. We just brought in Ott and Scott for that exact reason. Added to an already nasty Kaleta, McNabb, Regehr, McCormick and Foligno, I simply see no reason for buffalo to even consider this deal. Buffalo is looking much tougher this year.

Clowe's 6th man abilities should not be overlooked!
