Looking at this trade period and the way it turned out, I am not sure teams like Quebec/BLB/Mocton will turn around significantly following the trade period.
They are all struggling right now while teams like RN/BC/Rimouski/Halifax are doing very well.
Moncton have been too hot and cold for me to worry about them being a legit contender. Quebec and BLB look less than impressive but I wouldn't write anything off now... Rouyn just got destroyed by a team they're chasing and allow a lot of goals... If there's one team I think will fall it would be them.
Hlifax is far and away in a league of their ownbut the rest of the team I would feel my team the Rocket would have a fair chance against I think in round 1 and 2 your gonna see a lot of 6-7 game seris with a few upsets

Playoffs and placement are unpredictable right now... But if the team that showed up last night plays a BC, or BLB in the second round (possibility) it could go the distance...
Would be ironic if BC beat Halifax to win it all...
It would be pretty cool to see MacKinnon skate with the presidents cup over his head in the building... That is, if he's still alive after the series lol.

i think you mis-read the post....he said it would be cool if BC won halifax.....
I think that would be a dramatic irony, and justice.
Would certainly save the Drakkar.
It's a good thing Halifax saved the day and gave BC 3 1st round picks and 2 roster players for MacKinnon. Otherwise he would've gone USHL. Should give credit to Halifax for saving the Drakkar.

seems it didnt really hurt halifax either
you never know...when push comes to shove how those players and agents are going to react. I have a hard time believing that a player who feels he can play in the NHL at age 18 would have gone to the USHL. Hard to make the jump from their....alot harder than from the Q.
I think it was a good trade for both teams personally.

They had a good amount of picks before hand, what they got in the Nate deal helped a ton.
Hopefully they can build on what they have going for them.
I think Nate would have ended up playing for the Drakkar, because Ahern was standing firm. It would of taken time, but I think it would of happened.
I certainly would of forced him to go to Omaha.
That's easy to say, but not easy to do. You have to consider a rebuilding club, pulling in less fans than the Titan
You have an asset that's not bringing you any return. There is a point ownership needs to either get the player on the ice, or get something in return.
NHL teams won't sit on players for too long either. They don't have a choice. And - yes, the league pressured BC to make a deal or get a commitment. Why wouldn't they? They wanted Mac in the Q, not in the USHL. They didn't want to risk that loss...

I don't think the MacKinnon camp would of let it go that far.
The Lancers were used a powerplay, it wasn't where he wanted to be be. He used them to show he was serious about not reporting.
He had a size able list of cities he would of played in.
Ocanic seem to be Hfx worst nightmare. A team with Hfx record would not be the fist to exit the playoffs early. majority of their games against weak teams in their division. Having said that they do have a good team with lots of depth and should go far. Mooseheads deserve this after previous seasons when their fans deserted them.
