I see Grigorenko as a playmaker at the NHL level. Great vision and extremely creative on the offensive side of the game. How do people rate his shot power/accuracy?

Still high on him, but let's see if he's still able to buy space and time in the NHL. My guess is he will put points on the PP but will need a few years before being a good/great center 5 vs 5.

What blow my mind is that I am pretty sure Buffalo told Roy that Grigo would spend the rest of the year in the Q right after the Kucherov trade. And now there's a chance he cracks the line up? Oh well, he's their propriety anyway.

The guy was a super skilled player. Hands, shot, vision, speed. If he was ever used effectively or if he could have figured out how to play both sides of the ice he would have been an extremely effective NHLer, as I expect Grigorenko to be.

Also, if Grigorenko ends up being a consistent 30+ goal, 60+ pt player, that wouldn't be bad at all. Not every prospect is Evgeni Malkin.
plays nothing like Zherdev, you just going by nationalities

Man, Zherdev style is NOTHING like Grigorenko. Speed? Grigorenko is not exactly a speed demon. He doesn't overdo 1v1 dekes (unlike Zherdev) and his passing and vision are 10x more emphasized. He doesn't rely on wierd wristers (unlike Zherdev), and he plays a combination game (unlike Zherdev). Grigs uses his body to shield the puck almost all the time (unlike Zherdev). He plays a slower, cerebral posession game and not run and gun.

You're out to lunch on this.

Sounds like you just applied some "Russian Forward" stereotype, maybe that is why they look similar to you.

Grigs actually reminds me of Alexei Yashin.

The biggest thing I saw watching him at WJC, is the game seems to slow down for him. He has the ability to see plays develop and further the skill to make the difficult pass. I see him as someone who puts up around 2x as many assists as goals but who should develop into a number 1 center. Ideally, I see him similar to Joe Thornton.

Considering how defensive you get at the mere mention of it possibly contributing to what you say, it might be true.

Great wrist shot and good slap shot, both accurate. Roy likes to play the Umbrella on the PP and Grigo is often the option for the one timer.

I did not accuse any Sabres fans being jealous of the Rangers.

Just imagine if he was a Leaf's prospect...

The kid has played great since being drafted, done just about all he can to disprove the haters. Really enjoying watching him play, he reminds a bit of several great centers ie Spezza, Malkin, Thornton, Yashin etc...lookin forward to seeing him in the NHL, even if it's for Buffalo

Grigorenko is in the lineup tonight for Quebec.

They only got 3 wins in 9 games without him.

I thought before the draft and still think that he was the best forward in the draft. Mono and the QMJHL factor saw him drop. Buffalo got a steal.

But I heard they were stacked and his teammates inflated his stats.

Grigorenko is practicing on a line with Leino and Ott. There's a strong possibility he starts the season with them.

I think he'll play atleast 5 games. If he shows he can compete at this level, then they'll keep him up here.

If they do 5 and he doesn't look bad, they will probably do 9.
A team can play a rookie 9 games without eating up a contract year (unless the new CBA has changed that).

Just saying.

That's the case for an 82 game schedule, but i think with the shortened season they made it less. I could be wrong, tho

They shortened the rookie "try-out" game length. I believe it's 6 games and a decision must be made. If they keep him for 9 they keep him for good... No?

in a full season it's the same...but for this year (i.e. a partial season) they've reduced it to 5 games

Just to be clear, Grigorenko can play five games without burning an ELC year in this shortened season. If he plays in 6+ games, he'll burn a year, but anything less and he won't. Anyways, the Sabres had a scrimmage earlier tonight on their second day of camp. Grigorenko wore #25 in white in the following clips and centered Leino and Ott.

He beats Miller glove-side 0:15 in, but catches iron.

He has a breakaway 0:20 in, but Ehrhoff pressures and Miller stops his deke. He also one-times an Ott pass at the 0:42 mark, but Miller saves again.

He has a chance at the 0:07 mark, but can't get the Leino cross-crease pass out of his feet. He also tried to beat Miller blocker-side in his shootout attempt at 1:05, but was denied.
