Thank you, Leafs. What a rare dumb re-signing by Shero.

He wouldn't get the chance to fight Boston's 1st line LW. Thornton knows his role on the team, if Mac wants to scrap I'm sure Thornton would be more than willing to oblige, win or lose.

Is Kessel regularly picked on? I've never seen it. Something Brown and Phanuef haven't been able to handle?

MacIntyre might not play every single game, but IMO he'll be invaluable against a team like Boston, who has a history of taking liberties on Leaf players. Physically Boston enjoys beating on Toronto, at least with MacIntyre, you definitely won't see a lot of Lucic and his tough guy face, I think you'll see more of the faces he expressed when facing Laraque in Montreal. Boston plays better when the intimidate teams, at least Toronto, and IMO a guy like MacIntyre is going to abruptly stop the Bruins physical confidence/cockyness when they walk into Toronto.
Ah yes, Laraques shining moment in the NHL, attempting to intimidate a 19yr old kid. Have the Habs retired his jersey yet?

Would be an easy loss for Thornton

Yes. By Chara in particular lol. That's why Grabo always has big games against the bruins, he doesn't back down. Kessel gets off his game pretty easily

So what's the plan? Drop Lupul from the Kessel line?

Macyntire Bozak Kessel

And what exactly is Chara doing to Kessel that Mac will attempt to stop?

i hope Toronto actually claimed this guy. he doesn't have an ounce of hockey skill and nobody would even fight him until he flipped out at that one AHL goalie when that team's enforcer fought one of the Pens' top scorers.

Of course noone would fight him, he a mammoth and a borderline lunatic. If I was in the AHL, I wouldn't either. Chara\Lucic on the other hand, well they turn into mice pretty fast when someone intimidating is on the opposing team. Gets pretty jekyl and hyde pretty fast.

Money well spent, even if he just plays Vs Boston, and is only sent out for one shift each Vs Lucic and Chara, with the entire purpose of letting them know that he'll be on the very next shift Vs them, if they decide to get a little rambunctious.

The guy is an absolute beauty. I was pretty disappointed when the Oil let him go and kinda wanted them to claim him off waivers.

I'm sure he'll become a fan favourite in TO.

He had a very forgettable year in Pittsburgh. He seems like a good guy that knows his role though. He said when he signed with the Pens that his job was to make sure Sidney's comeback from the concussion issues went as smooth as possible. The comeback didn't go so smooth the first time but that really wasn't his fault. He hardly played and wasn't that valued by the Pens coaches. He is so bad at hockey that you really don't want to even give him a shift with a guy like Crosby and he is so huge and dominating as a fighter that it's hard for him to find a willing combatant on the other side.

Why not just stick to Orr/Rosehill?

Because Mac is a crazy mother ****er.

Not sure if I want Orr fighting with his health.

I don't know much about Mac so question:

Fighting aside, who is better at hockey Mac or Orr?

Mac averaged 5 shifts a game last year.

I honestly just think Mac is the worst player in the NHL, and even as a fighter he is irrelevant because people won't fight him.

MacIntyre as a 13th forward suggests if even one guy gets banged up blocking a shot, he would need to play.

Oiler fans, Pens fans and just general hockey fight fans are all basically saying the same thing but it's going unnoticed by way too many Leaf's fans.

You guys keep throwing out Orr as a comparable. He's not one.
MacIntyre's not a little bit worse at playing hockey than Orr (who isn't very good for an NHLer). There is, like, an Everest size difference between the two. Mac is worse at playing hockey than Mike Komisarek is at beating up Milan Lucic.

If he's the thirteenth forwards--the guy who goes in when any forward in the lineup has any day-to-day injury--you have a serious depth problem.

Trust me, I wish they had. Not only is he a good fighter, he can skate and lay some pretty big hits.

Man, the fan of other teams just love the Leafs. Such a meaningless "signing" (still a rumour); yet here we are, many pages later.

Then you all cry about how the Leafs are the center of the hockey universe and you hate hearing about them.
