Watching NHL network last night and they did divisional previews. Had Kelly Chase, Kevin Weekes and Bobby Mac on.
Bobby Mac made it simple, if Miller returns to form, they will succeed.
Chase and Weekes talked about the transformation of the team to become harder to play against. Both were very clear that Scott should dress most every game and just being there will have a huge impact on the the rest of the team and how teams treat them. They referenced the impact Dave Semenko had on opposing teams. The rest of the players will have a little less to worry about and be a bit more mentally focused, and fresh for the playoffs. They like the change from a "redundant" lineup of mostly smaller skilled palyers to a mix of skill and physical players.
Oh yeah, I read Bob Mac tweet about this earlier and was gonna see if there's video on NHL.com. I don't agree that Scott should dress most every game, especially if Grigorenko is on the team. Scratching Gerbe or Kaleta to play Scott with Hecht, Gerbe/Kaleta is a waste of talent. Something more like 1/3rd of games sounds more reasonable. Now, if Hecht has to play on the 3rd line due to no Grigorenko and you have an Ellis or McCormick on the 4th line with Kaleta/Gerbe, maybe it makes a bit more sense to tank that line a bit more often.
As of right now - practice will start around 5:30 pm ET with the scrimmage starting around 6:00 pm ET. There are no plans to stream the practice/scrimmage online but there will be some video of at least of the scrimmage on Sabres.com sometime later in the evening. There will be tweets/pictures posted on Sabres.com updating fans that can't make it tonight of the open practice/scrimmage. No plans for a formal autograph session after the open practice/scrimmage ends.
Sorry about that. I didn't listen to Black's earlier segment, but my comment was based on Sylvester opening HH by saying 5:30PM puck drop. Snow came on later and said in the last segment that the scrimmage will start closer to 6:00PM. No stream, but I expect highlights on Sabres.com.
You guys are so lucky. Being an out of the country Sabre fan is lame in the sense that you miss out on so much. Although I have a local team, I'm not a team switcher.
I convinced the kids to go to the scrimmage tonight this morning -- appealed to their sense of adventure and even got them to buy in to do their homework immediately when they get home.

According to the guys on Hockey Hotline - Sabre fans definiately taking advantage of the 50% off deal at the Sabres Store - lines are like 12 deep at each registar.

This could get interesting if Grigs makes the team.
The offseason plan was to get much tougher as a team. The idea was to bring in players to add to the few tougher players we already had.
....comes to be. You would add Ott but remove Scott and McCormick
If that lineup is what we bring into the season then we really haven't gotten much tougher and would be almost more of the same from previous years. It also puts Foligno, Ott and Kaleta more into the role of fighters than I think most of us would want.
My wife and I are. I'll be in my Ruff jersey and the wife in her 40th anni. likely in the 200's. Anyone, feel free to join us.
In taking my friend and sibling I think. I'll be in a Satan jersey or a 40th Miller with a hat that says Sabres hockey with hockey sticks crossed. Will look out for you guys
