Older, and slower.

I hate the idea of any of these guys playing on the 3rd line this year. I don't want them to rush Spooner but he may be the best choice. Knight's not even close to being ready. Bourque's an AHL player, MacDermid's an AHL 4th liner and I don't see Caron as more than a 4th liner in the NHL, at least for this year.

I like inviting Pandolfo to camp to create some competition but I can't imagine he sticks around. I'd rather see them invite Eric Fehr, Daymond Langkow or Jason Blake to camp. At least they have a bit of offence left in their game, maybe.

Caron is probably a good fit on the Bruins 3rd line.

I would personally rather see a current young/prospect Bruin get the slot.

But I am not in charge.

Fehr was signed in Washington

Why? He's been given a ton of opportunities to seize that role, yet hasn't done anything to hold onto it. He's also played horribly down in Providence this year. I see no reason why they wouldn't give the spot to the guy who earned it, regardless of who they are. That being said though, Pandolfo is not the guy for that spot...

Why?

You know who I want to see get the slot......the best player/the player who earns it/the player who gives the Bruins the best chance at winning whether he's 20, 30 or 40.

How has Pandolfo looked so far? If no other vets are available I like the idea of having him around as the extra guy.

Evidently Jay Pandolfo is still practicing with the NHL squad. How is he allowed to do this? Did he officially get signed to a pro contract that slipped through the newswire?

Pandolfo is on waivers, so it looks like Boston has signed him.

What a thrill it must be for Pando to be on the Bruins. Local boy done well. Gives us a viable option as a 13th forward. Good signing.

Its gotta be for the baby Bs. Why would they want Pandolfo in Bosotn? Improve the PK lol? Whatever happened to Rolston? Guy had 15pts in 21gms and a plus7. Seems like good numbers for a 3rd liner even if he isn't as fast as he used to be. Pandolfo is slower, just as old and much less productive. At least have a longer look at Bourque. Seems like he picked up his game of late, 2pts in his last 3 and doubled the amount of his shots. Pandolfo

Langkow would've been nice. Guy hits and puts up pts still. And younger too boot. Did he retire? Why isn't he playing in Pheonix any more?

1G, 2A in 62GP last year with the Islanders. 38 years old. Has never scored more than 30 points in a season (27 five years ago).

Why?

Mixed emotions on this. I like Pandolfo and it is nice that he is fulfilling a dream and all but I don't really like over-35 contracts unless the guy is a key piece of the puzzle.

They are at 49 contracts now I believe.

it's a good signing, there's never too much depth. He's a viable 4th line option in case Campbell or Paile need to be promoted to to injuries.

They must know something some of us don't know. This veteran played under Coach J in the past, as we all know. Sometimes a player in a situation as Jay Pandolfo's can be placed on a certain team or system that just fits. I hope this is one of those cases. If anything, it is a great motivator to the rookies who are trying to crack the roster. Good veteran signup I think..

If we go deep into the post season this is a good player to have on board. As I saw in another post. "More depth to a Deep Team"

This reminds me of last year's interest in Chris Clark, nothing to get excited about. I would rather give some of our youngsters with potential the opportunity over a player who even on his best day dosen't appear to have any upside, all he adds is experience and defensive capabilities.

also, you don't just hand over opportunities to young players. you make them earn the opportunities. if they can't beat pandolfo or bourque for jobs on the big club, there's obviously something that needs working on.

Much ado about nothing. Strictly an insurance signing. Cheap and intended to light a fire under some ***** in Boston as well as Prov.
