Exactly and that’s why I wish for Moen – Eller – Gionta. I would also break our first line to make room for Galchenyuk on Desharnais’ LW.

Heck... with Galchenyuk onboard, a healthy Gionta and the addition of Prust... I like our forwards squad!

Isn't Therrien a fan of mixing up the lines to protect a lead?

Habs management would be silly to not give Gally the 1st 5 games and take it from there. Nothing to lose

Agreed. Aside from injury, there is absolutely nothing bad about giving him at least 5 games.

The tenth shooter is the first shooter to score in shootout. Galchenyuk leaves Budaj on the wrong side of the net with a slick deke.

It's Galchenyuk v Bourque in final of shootout competition, both missed twice in a row

My twitter timeline reads like a Galchenyuk love journal from everyone in the media right now. He wowed everyone in a shootout drill.

Should also give him a good base in terms of how to conduct himself defensively as a forward at the NHL level.
So you're comfortable with Galchenyuk playing on a line that goes up against Gaborik - Richards - Nash when we face the Rangers?

Is that 5 games pro rated or is this a new part of the CBA?

If you want Galchenyuk on the roster, and you don't want to break up the DD line, you gotta live it.

Personally I think we'd have 4 lines that can be defensively responsible.

Like Kjell wrote, you can go Moen - Eller - Gionta as a tough minutes line, leaving Gally - Pleks - Bourque.

5 games just for this year. Goes back to 9 game limit next year.

Heh. You better get used to seeing Armstrong's beak because Therrien will swap him and Bourque/Gally often.

But then again, who, apart from Plekanec and Moen, would make you feel comfortable against such a line !? Let's tank

Edit: Damn, I forgot Price. Alright then folks, we should go all offense and keep Gally on Pleky's wing.

Laraque did this in 08-09 with Lapierre and Kostopoulos. I believe that was the season Lapierre said he took boxing lessons to learn how to fight.

While it would sacrifice Gionta's offensive game a bit, I really wouldn't mind

Bourque - Desharnais - Cole
Pacioretty - Plekanec - Galchenyuk
Moen - Eller - Gionta
Prust - White - Armstrong

If we are looking for offense...

I'd rather move Cole with Plekanec to keep Pacioretty with DD and since Cole is a better 2 way player at this point, but I'd be moving too many guys to their off sides.

Prust and White training for fighting? Love it.

PS: Who ended up winning the SO contest Gally or Bourque?

Markov came off the bench to win it seems.

Gionta is one of the games better ES two-way wingers. Cole played shutdown matchups in CAR. Pacioretty is a sufficiently dominant LW that you can probably slot him up against anyone. Eller acquits himself decently against opposition's best when facing them at times last year.

These + Plekanec/Moen are the hard matchup forwards MTL has right now
