Awesome. Didn't look out of place at all. Deked out Gorges so bad on one play, was nasty.

I normally agree with you vis-a-vis prospects, but I gotta disagree here. If Sarnia weren't in disarray, sure. But he'd be going back for another ~25 games, and either no, or a few games in the playoffs. If he's getting stable ice-time on the 3rd line with Eller, I just think 48 games of NHL hockey is the better development opportunity.

I wouldn't put him on the 3rd line, to me it's top 6 spot or back to Sarnia.

He said something along the lines of the reason why people say Galchenyuk didn't dominate at the World Juniors is because Grigorenko was on the top line.

And I still think he meant Gaudreau instead of Grigorenko...

I totally agree! Playing 3rd line in the show is nothing to sneeze at. Besides: who's to say he'll finish the season in the same spot. Even in a shortened season, a lot can happen.

3rd line on an NHL team is quite good. With pk or pp time, it must be around 15-16 mins per game on average. Remember that he will be playing with a guy as talented as Eller and probably Gionta or Bourque. It's no shame at all. Then you have Markov, Kaberle, hopefully Subban and Diaz to feed him the puck and help on the rush. He will have all the tools to succeed if he plays on the 3rd line. With injuries he might even climb onto 1st or the 2nd...

So basically from your lineup, Gally would have to outplay Dumont.

Patches - DD - Cole
Gally - Pleks - Gionta
Bourque - Eller - Moen
Prust - White - Armstrong

I'm not saying it would happen but Gally can make the big show if he demonstrates he can bring the goods. I love Dumont but there are other players that can bring what he brings: Prust, White, Moen, Armstrong and even Nokie. there's no one on the roster that can bring what Gally can bring.

There's also another possibility: with the Habs history of injuries, Armstrong's recent history of injuries, Nokie's & Pleks' bang up status, maybe both Dumont & Gally can make it.

Please, I beg you again! Develop Gally as the much wanted large, skilled, and driven CENTER we have needed for over a decade. Not as some kind of hybrid that can play C when needed. LW?

Crosby started out as a LW. No need to worry right now.Its a transitionary position that alleviates Gally from Center burdens while he gets up to speed with the NHL game. He will be groomed as a Center.

Looks like Therrien is entertaining Galchenyuk-Plekanec-Gionta as the second line. I like that a lot. And from the sounds of it, Gally hasn't looked out of place at all.

Crossing my fingers that he starts on that line but all signs point to yes in my opinion especially since Therrien seems to be in love with his young prodigy.

Therrien is the same guy who took the 2008-2009 Penguins to the Stanley Cup Final with young studs such as Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Jordan Staal, and Kristopher Letang.

Too early to say this IMO considering Plekanec isn't skating with the group and Therrien made it clear yesterday he'd try various combinations in the coming days.

That's what - coupled with what I've read from Gaston's blog and him being a constant on that second line so far - really gives me optimism. Gally will have a top 6 role in my opinion and all the chances to produce if that's how it turns out. Makes me very happy.
