Grabner skated with the team in the latter part of practice. He'll be fine for Saturday.

Bailey Strome Boyes
Martin Nielsen Grabner
Ullstrom Reasoner Boulton

Streit Hamonic
MacDonald Carkner
Donovan Martinek

Nabby
Poulin

This team is awful. Start praying to the hockey gods for Seth Jones.

He was good for 50-60 points and had chemistry on the first line. Boyes was a fourth liner for Buffalo who has been trending down for a few years now.
Was really surprised to see him penciled in for top line duties for you guys.

Couple guys on waiver that could help as bodies on the blueline: Thomas Hickey, Matt Smaby.

I would take a shot at Hickey, haven't seen him much though. I remember Smaby from TBL, big boy, but not a fan of him.

Hickey is on waivers? I really hope we claim him. He may have some potential.

Yep...the idea is that Boyes might get back to form if put on a line with Tavares. If that doesn't work, then he will be put on 3/4th line duties until the summer and that time, we just won't renew his contract.

I had the opposite reaction. If he makes the team, 3rd line RW is where I'd expect him to start out.

with respect, i hope that Boyes isn't handed first line duties. he should have to earn them. it's a low risk, high reward scenario, so i have no qualms about him being here.

he could very well wind up anywhere from 1st line to 4th line. my guess is that spends most of his time on the third line.

I really wouldn't mind seeing Ness get a shot on the bottom pair with Carkner. I think his speed and offense would balance with carkners stay at home, rugged style. I like ness a lot but I think he gets overlooked by fans and sometimes the organization.

If Bailey and Joenssu are out du to injury, this is a possible line-up for the opening game:

M. Moulson - J. Tavares - B. Boyes
D. Ullstrom - R. Strome - K. Okposo
M. Grabner - F. Nielsen - M. Martin
E. Boulton - M. Reasoner - C. Cizikas/C. McDonald

M. Streit - T. Hamonic
L. Visnovsky - R. Martinek
A. MacDonald - M. Carkner
T. Wishart (7th d-man?)

E. Nabokov
R. DiPietro

I based this line-up on the list of players invited to training camp. That's the reason for no Niederreiter or Donovan.
I hope Capuano put back Grabner with Nielsen. The were great two years ago when playing together. We can always hope for a rebound year.

Cappy has said that because all of this is happening so fast, that Okposo will be up one the 1st line with JT and Moulson due to chemistry so we can hopefully get a good start to the season.

And did he said something about Grabner and Nielsen back together? Because that was some real chemistry! Unlike Tavares-Okposo, I never seen a strong chemistry between the two : what I see is Tavares is super talented and Okposo looks better because of it!

I think Okposo has better chemistry with Bailey, but right now he is injured.
So with who Boyes is going to play? Probably with Nielsen, again back in the 2nd line, and I'm pretty sure it wont be completed with Grabner because it would be a super soft line!

So thats probably what we're going to see:
Moulson-Tavares-Okposo
Ullstrom-Nielsen-Boyes
Grabner-Strome-Cizikas
Martin-Reasoner-Boulton

M. Moulson - J. Tavares - K. Okposo
M. Grabner - F. Nielsen - B. Boyes
D. Ullstrom - C. Cizikas - C. McDonald
Martin - Reasoner - Boulton/Strome
Bailey/Joensuu - inj.

M. Streit - R. Martinek
A. MacDonald - T. Hamonic
T. Wishart/J. Landry - M. Carkner
L. Visnovsky - suspended

E. Nabokov
R. DiPietro

Once Bailey and Joensuu are healthy, they'll probably replace Cizikas and McDonald. If McDonald doesn't make the team, I can see a Martin - Cizikas - Ullstrom 3rd line.

Gonna be a tough, short year.

That team doesn't really scare anyone does it?? They so need to add more experience and real quality at both ends of the ice it's frightening but I doubt Snow sees it that way

I still don't feel like Craposo should play with JT. He's got skills, but he is so streaky...I think Crapmenteau complimented JT a lot more than KO does. I think Bailey would make an awesome winger on JT's line.

This is as close to opening night lines as I envision...Boulton over Strome, Landry over Reinhart.

I can see Strome getting one, maybe two games, and Griff the same, particularly if Landry stinks. More likely is Griff just sits and watches from the pressbox with Chaz and Garf, as Strome did last year.

This team is really shaping up to look God Awful. Don't understand Strome not getting an opportunity(apparently he's been stuck with Reasoner/Boulton the whole time so far), and I see a 0% chance of him sticking as a 4th liner(it would be absolutely pointless to use him in that role). This means Nielsen will probably be our 2nd line center again(haven't we tried this experiment before?), and a guy like Cizikas will probably be our 3rd line center(hooray!).

Aside from the obviously bad(on paper, at least) defense, this team looks like it is going to struggle to score goals... maybe even worse than they struggled last year.

God... help me.

Isles should really try to bring in sykora or arnott one 1yr deals. Short term veteran fixes.

with the way that snow has been obsessed with size lately i would love for arnott to be brought in and it seems like a possibility for cizikas too

Geez, do people really think this team is that bad? We have no idea how this team has developed over this half of the year. Let's watch the first few games, then decide if this team warrants a criticism.

I spoke to Garth, he said there were going to be a few surprises on opening night:

Niederreiter Tavares B. Nelson

Bailey Strome Okposo

Grabner Sundstrom A. Lee

Martin Cizikas Ullstrom

Persson Kabanov

Reinhart Hamonic

Donovan McDonald

De Haan Mayfield

Pedan Pokka

Russo Pelech

Kichton Somerby

****** If at all possible, please draft Seth Jones and then the rebuild would be complete.......

and there is your roster folks..

I disagree. Tavares went on the long point streak when Okposo was on his line, there had to be some chemistry there. Tavares had to go in the corners a lot when PAP was on his line, when Okposo played on the top line he went in the corners and Tavares got more scoring chances imo.
