A little trade discussion...

I was just talking with Canucks fan\poster Peter Griffin...whom I've found to be a level-headed, intelligent hockey fan...and we are discussing this as a deal that we believe favors both teams fairly:

to VAN

Scott Hartnell
Kimmo Timonen

to NAS

Todd Bertuzzi
Bryan Allen

We'd end up only taking on about 2.5 million in salary, and Bertuzzi would give us the physical goal-scoring presence that we've NEVER had. He'd also likely flourish with a fresh start out of Vancouver. He didn't have a GREAT season last year, but he started to regain some form. We can afford to let Timonen go as has been discussed, and Bryan Allen gives us another mean, vicious-hitting young defenseman with some nice upside.

Thoughts?

Thanks! Right back at you there. In fact, I find most posters on the Nashville board to be reasonable, knowledgeable fans.

I think this is a deal that many Canucks' fans would approve of provided that the Canucks are able to acquire a physical d-man to replace Allen elsewhere, perhaps Willie Mitchell. If the Canucks fail to do that, then I can't see them moving Allen, although Timonen would be a very welcome addition on the Canucks' powerplay.

Would be hard for me to embrace Bertuzzi. And he's the only player in the league I would say that about.

What he did was that sickening.

Don't know much about Allen... little interest in trading away Timonen and Hartnell for Bertuzzi. While I'd be alright with giving Bertuzzi a shot on our team... no way do we pay his salary, and give up those kind of assets only to see him potentially walk after one year. If we're paying high salaries and give up big-time assets, it should be for a center.

Maybe take a chance on Bertuzzi after next year.... when he's a UFA, and when we lose Kariya's 4.5m salary.

I'd rather keep Hartnell - I know he was dogged this year, but he could possibly be one of the best (if not the best) power forwards int he league in the next few years.

I'm with dulzhok on this one....I don't want to consider trading those kind of assets until we firmly have a #1 center in place.

Big Bert would be intriguing as a Pred and give us options that we never have had before, but I think the Nashville fan base would have trouble warming up to him.....you gotta admit, he doesn't fit the typical Preds culture litmus test......

If we made that trade, trade value being equal or close, I just do not think I could bring myself to like the trade or cheer for Bertuzzi.

Do you guys really believe that Bertuzzi will stay in the Western Conference if/when he gets moved?

If the deal is right, you have to make it. i think that if the Canucks got offered a deal like that, it'd be hard to turn down.

are you sure..

Bertuzzi is a country boy... and can sing that country song...

the little drummer boy... boot skootin boogie.

you would get over it. This actually would be an interesting trade.

i do not feel that it is a big issue in the conference... division, that is a different story.

they key is... having Bertuzzi somewhere he feels solitude. Graceland should do that for him.

Yeah, but wouldn't a 3 1/2 hour drive (Graceland to Centennial Sportsplex) be an awfully long commute.

oh for sure it is a long commute ... it is just that ... this would do him good.

time to think about things in the privacy of his mind.

his wife and kids would enjoy it too ... he is a grumpy man most of the time
