He was up and down with the Oilers a couple of seasons ago, but at his best he did a good job. A far better signing than Barker, that's for sure.

My guess is we are not going to move anyone out, but if we were, this is an ideal time with such a shortage of D and at least four teams on the hunt (OTT, MIN, DAL, NYI).

Yeah signing Vandermeer and Barker pretty much makes Edler redundant.
Gillis operates on the basis that you need 10 defencemen in terms of depth and we have had to rely on that in the past. Vandermeer and Barker give us number 8 and 9.
