We just got tougher to play against.

One step at a time.

There's some awesome crease clearing highlights in here:

Some stuff that really makes him look good.

Don't know much about him but this means we won't be forced to use one of Potter or Peckham (barring injuries) it sounds good to me.

Thats a pretty solid trade for Tambo with all sorts of teams clamouring for D men.

Filled a hole. At a reasonable cost. Well done.

Any day where you make your club better is a good day. Fistric adds depth to the defensive end.

i actually noticed the complete opposite, that he actually leads with his butt. he almost turns right around when making hits. granted these videos are also a very, very small sample and tough to make any kind of definitive assessment of his style of play from these videos.

that being said, his reputation as a big hitter and being tough to play against, makes this a very good pick up for the oilers.

Glennie & Sloan for Subban......
They have some good depth in goal though, perhaps they will package a goalie with the pick.. The Stars have some pretty good skill, not a bad team on paper.

Ya, that's what I though, thanks.

Seems like a pretty cheap alternative for a guy who can play defense and run guys over.

Nice move for you guys, and I'd call it a steal - very surprised it only took a 3rd rounder.

Fistric is big and he's mean. Loves to hit and clear the crease. Very, very solid move for you guys.

Nah, they have tonnes of space. They are probably Jonesin' for Jones

Thanks. Frankly any move that dropped Peckham and Potter down the depth charts would be a good move. Adding toughness and a touch of crazy is just gravy.

there has been a real change in mngt direction.

Out
Gilbert
Barker

In
Shultz
Fristic

We are getting a lot touger to play against. Adding J Shultz and a healthy Whitney and I suddenly like our defence. Theo is a decent #7, Potter is gone

Oilers have some big hitting d-men.

Watching the hightlight reels, looks like fistric has the ability and willingness to hit opposing star players. That's an upgrade as Sutton was slowing down considerably heading into his late 30s.

Good move all around anyways. In his prime age wise, tough, loose cannon, and can play regular minutes. I'd give credit to Oiler's management, but they clearly don't make good trades, so this was obviously the training staff working behind their backs

Craig Button ‏@CraigJButton
Mark Fistric is a great addition by #Oilers Big, strong, territorial and hard to play against. Fits in nicely with their group. Playoffs?
Keep in mind, though, Button is kind of a moron.

I'm definitely a fan of this move, and I'm don't mean to come off being critical of Fistric or this trade in general. I just don't think Peckham is as awful as he's been portrayed around here lately, and both players are 6/7 defensemen.

Kind of like how we replaced Jacques and Mac with Eager and Hordichuk. Both good moves, and definite upgrades, but still bottom of the roster players.
Agreed.

Fistric is miles above Peckham, but Pecks gets no love in this forum. Both are hard hitting, PK guys who will stick up for their teammates at the drop of a hat. You don't give those guys away for nothing.

Dallas must be crazy.

I don't know if it's that far fetched, why else do you move a guy for a pick if you had a need for him?
