My theory is that he's an older guy, because most old people I know 'sign' the end of letters/posts with their name (my dad does it at the end of text messages)

Now that it's over, what was your favorite moment of the Cam Barker era in Vancouver?

This is how Gillis rolls. We have cap space, it's going to be an intense shortened season, and injuries will happen. We might as well load up on defensemen now if we can.

Hamhuis-Bieksa
Edler-Garrison
Ballard-Tanev
Alberts, Barker, Vandermeer

With Connauton able to come up from the farm.

Most teams have a significant drop-off after their top 4 d-men, I think our top 6 is one of the best in the NHL.

Thinking more and more that Edler will be traded. And it won't be pretty unless a young top-6 comes back.

Thanks everyone, for signing...

People getting mad about making fun of Cam Barker before he could even put a on jersey.

It's not depth if no one else wants your 7/8 guys.

Unless it's a huge return, Ballard is more likely to be on his way out.

When I found out that signing him meant the Canucks had no chance at winning the cup anymore. Almost saved me from having to watch them lose again.

Do you really want to encourage oiler fans to respond to this?

makes sense, also seems like he enjoys doing it for the sake of being unique and likes when people ask him

anyway, good signing for Vancouver

Why would the Canucks move a d-man right now?

He was up and down with the Oilers a couple of seasons ago, but at his best he did a good job. A far better signing than Barker, that's for sure.

My guess is we are not going to move anyone out, but if we were, this is an ideal time with such a shortage of D and at least four teams on the hunt (OTT, MIN, DAL, NYI).

Canucks rebuilding the 2006-07 Blackhawks one piece at a time. Next up: Jassen Cullimore.

Yeah signing Vandermeer and Barker pretty much makes Edler redundant.
Gillis operates on the basis that you need 10 defencemen in terms of depth and we have had to rely on that in the past. Vandermeer and Barker give us number 8 and 9.
