That is ridiculous. What a blatant money-grab, forcing hockey fans to buy a giant package. How does the biggest cable provider in Canada not offer a stand-alone package for the national pastime?

Called again to Shaw and she said $151.80 , but then I said some guy got it for $25.24 from Bell, she said let me talk to my manager, she then came back and said it would be free until the end of January and they would have a price on it sometime in those weeks that there is the free preview. So really still no answer.

I love large companies that don't know whats going on

Whenever I call Shaw about problems with Center ice, the person I'm talking with rarely knows what is going on. There's no way that Bell and Shaw will have that large a gap in prices... at least one would hope...

The company knows what is going on, it's a matter of having that info filter down properly to the bottom rungs in the ladder that's the issue. The Rep is probably just going off last years information in their system. Parity amongst reps is the biggest issue companies like this have. We suffer from it ourselves. Some reps just don't care to stay up to date on stuff.

Ahhh Cable companies ... I've never been so happy to have kicked my cable/sat package. Now if HBO/Showtime would just provide some sort of standalone online subscription, I'd be set.

Understood, I'd just like to get it for cheap to try it out.

FYI I talked to our regional marketing manager at Charter this morning and they still do not have pricing for CI.

Seems it to me too. I realize there will be a lot of hockey on tv especially those of us lucky enough to get NESN. However I'm really interested in getting it for out of market games next year. So this is a good time to try it out at a "reasonable" price.

Okay, going with GameCenter for a few reasons.

1) Priced at 49.99 can't be beat.
2) Cogeco/Rogers only offer the option of purchasing total sports package and not CI separately.
3) The App will work on my Apple TV, iPad and iPhone. I especially like that if I'm traveling I won't have to miss a Bruins game.

I'll just need some help switching up my IP address for the blacked-out games. Figure that if I was tech savvy enough to jailbreak my ATV2, I should be able to figure this out.

Anyone else making the switch from CI o GC?

I think the price was the same for everyone, but I might've caught the early bird offer which came in at 159 US $.

If you use Netflix or Hulu at all, Unblock US is worth the minor subscription fee.

Looks like a free preview from 1/19 to 1/31 then it's 49.50 from Cablevision. No brainer. Anyone that has never bought it before should...

Some weekends you have a 1, 4, 7, 10 and 10:30 games. I watch 12 straight hours of hockey most Saturdays.

Directv and Dish are also options. You need a USA phone number, and someone to install it for you, but both those things are possible. Can probably google for easy ways to do it.

FYI anyone wanting to link GCL to the PS3 has to wait for the new version of the app that is supposed to be available in the next "few" days. I just spent half an hour trying to figure it out with no luck. I had to finally do a help chat.

Now that they added the price, they are showing Xbox 360 is supported. Going to try and hunt for the app on Xbox Live again tonight.

Let us know how much of a game you get through before the battery on your GS3 dies.

Did you threaten to cancel with them and find a different provider. Anytime I've had a problem with Rogers I say I'd like to cancel my service and they transfer my call to a different department and that new customer service rep offers me a bunch of discounts. Trust me they'd rather have you paying them every month than risk losing you completely.

I'll let you know, but I have no doubt the AC/USB cord will be handy.
