Right now Hamhuis already has a groin strain, which leads me to believe the signing of Vandermeer was a precautionary to how the season might go. Let us not forget, we're Vancouver "Home of the Strained Groins" + "Home to the Goalie Graveyard".

It's how our fanbase rolls.

Because we are signing guys like Barker & Vandermeer?

Vancouver traditionally goes through many D in a season due to injury. Pretty sure we used something crazy like 14 or so in 2010/2011.

Good signing by the Canucks. Vandermeer actually has something to offer (toughness) unlike Barker.

Much better. At least they still got Vandermeer even after signing Barker. This is a good signing.

Vandermeer brings more of what the Canucks lack on defense: toughness and grit. He's a fine seventh defenseman capable of stepping in on the bottom-pairing.

I know this is utterly retarded, but I kind of want us to trade someone so we can get Ehrhoff back. I loved that guy, and I still do even with that monster contract.

Did not want him back.

Typical Vancouver, signing all of San Jose's leftovers.

You're right...

...it is retarded

Ehrhoff was high risk, high reward. While he was clutch on the PP, but just a nightmare in his own end.

A nightmare? Hardly. He was average defensively, and dynamite offensively.

Really like this for Vancouver. Miles better than the Barker signing. Brings much needed toughness that all teams would love to have.

"Lol signed Baker?????"

"He'll be 8th on the depth chart"

"Looooool means he might play"

Then

"Why sign Vandermeer he won't ever get playing time"

I believe that was me.

I feel good now. This signing makes up for the Barker signing completely.

Now we just need a RHD as well...

First of all, thanks again, everyone, for signing TOML.

Somebody asked; Edler would be traded because he's an upcoming UFA that will be asking for too much, like Ehrhoff, not because of Vandermeer and Barker signing. You don't have to be a genius to figure that out.
