I'm assuming so. Center Ice is distributed by inDemand, and they're advertising the $50 price.

Sick shootout goal from Jori Lehterä (Blues hold his rights but I don't think he'll play in NA at this point) in the KHL All-Star Game:

Ordered my Center Ice with Comcast today. $50 for the season? Yes please. I think DirecTV was 4 payments of $14.99.

Which one is better, or do you guys recommend? I am certainly getting one this year. Awesome price.

I have Comcast and I usually get Center Ice.

I have friends with Game Center and they say that they occasionally have issues with streams being choppy or just not working.

Yeah, I might not get RJ all the time and I rarely get RJ in HD, but I like the convenience of being able to watch the game on my big screen and DVR and watch later.

I'd say GameCenter as long as you have a way to stream it to your TV (PS3, Xbox 360, Boxee, Roku, or even an HDMI cable from a laptop).

You actually get every game in HD (as long as it's broadcasted in HD, that is), unlike Center Ice where it's random.
You also get the choice of multiple feeds and all games on-demand at any time.

Interesting to see Westgarth coming to Carolina. Much of the East has started bringing back the knuckle chuckers.

That's what I'm doing. I'll either watch through my computer or xbox, either way on my new monitor since it's actually better than my TV

Looks like NHL/NHLPA have reached an agreement creating an amnesty buyout period before the season opener, though cap hit remains for this season only. Basically allows Redden/Gomez to seek employment somewhere this year as opposed to being told to sit for the season--the cap ramifications are exactly the same as if the buyout happened in the summer, without the actual "waiting until the summer" part.

There will still be an amnesty buyout window in the summer.

But here's the question...would you sign Gomez to a 1M or less contract?

That's a good compromise. Doesn't affect the power or scope of the buy outs but allows teams to not have to avoid risk by forcing a player to stay home and obviously is great for those players.

Amazing that such a deal could be reached without losing a single game

My issue is DVR. I basically record every game and watch when I can. You can't record on GCL, only center ice through the TV, right?

You can't record a game but all of them are archived.

If you use it through the computer you're usually blacked out for a day or two for games within your market, but I find that on the PS3 anyways, they seemingly left out blackouts altogether.

You can't record but all games are available within 24 hours for on-demand, except for in-market (e.g. Sabres games if you live in WNY) which aren't on demand for 48 hours.

Once a game is on-demand I believe it stays that way forever since all games from like '06-07 on are available to watch.

The Islanders suspended Bailey and Joensuu today for getting injured playing overseas. Seems pretty petty to me. Is there some other reason they did this or was it just out of spite?

Its in the rules. If you're injured and can't play because of it you can be suspended. It doesn't matter if its waterskiing, playing rec league hockey or in this case playing oversees during the lockout, etc. If its not an injury related to playing for your team and you can't honor your contract you can get suspended. It also applies to health issues as well. If you recall the Sabres suspended Teppo when he wasn't able to play due to his heart (?) issues.

Whether its petty or not ......

The difference with Teppo was that they were nut to butt against the cap and to be honest Golisano was a cheap ******* and didn't want to pay him

I know...it just seems that the Islanders are petty in their actions, much as the Sabres were under Golisano
