Flames expected to re-sign Jarome Iginla

For those of you wishing/hoping/praying Jarome Iginla gets traded this season, NOT A CHANCE! Both Jarome Iginla and Calgary Flames ownership's desire is to keep Iginla in the 'Flaming C' his entire career.

Flames GM Jay Feaster: "Our intent is to have Jarome Iginla spend his entire career with the Calgary Flames."

Video: http://video.flames.nhl.com/videocen...ed-share-video

Flames captain Jarome Iginla: "This is home for me."

Video: http://video.flames.nhl.com/videocen...ed-share-video

Keep wishing/hoping/praying!

Well he can go out like Sundin then.
Fantastic leader, great point producer, HHOFer, but no cups... And probably won't be signed by the Canucks.

Used to live by me, nicest guy ever and a great player, if hes resigned by the Flames good for him, seems like he wants to retire with them but personally Id love to see him traded to a contender and see him win a cup

If he stays on that team, I hope he is compensated very well. Is Feaster ever going to rebuild?

Honestly, great player - but moving him would actually help the Flames ice a competitive team in future years with the return.

Also, you would think Iggy would like to win a cup before he retires.

Right on. Now if we tank at the deadline, at least we can get an awesome return

Really though, I am happy for the guy if he wants to stay he should be allowed to, and if he wants to go and chase a cup, I will cheer for him either way.

Yep. And the Devils weren't in limbo the way the Flames are.

I am guessing you haven't seen the trade board most people want to give up a first at most for him that isn't a huge help.

What if he's traded to the Canucks?

There are no guarantees even if he gets traded that he'll win the Cup. He's spent his entire career with the Flames, he wants to continue to do that. Gotta respect him for that!

Good player. Interested to see what his last 5 or 6 years have in store.

No-brainer for the Flames. And they have more quality prospects than most people think. They don't HAVE to trade Iggy.

Why? The whole city loves Iginla, we would have no problem with him retiring a Flame.

I see Iginla leaving for the KHL before Calgary trades him to Vancouver

Not saying your point is valid, but since when did playing games for a team become the measuring stick for what a career is?

For example, Valeri Bure signed with LA in August 2005, but got injured in the preseason and never played in an official game for LA. Does that mean his career never included LA?

Because it severely cripples any chance of a decent rebuild.
