Al MacInnis - long dominat career productive tough and he was a great offensive defenceman who may had a few more dominant years left in his career if it wasnt for that eye injury.

Voting Clancy, add Mark Howe. (He has one huge advantage over Leetch, he didn't kill my favourite team in the stanley cup finals.)

Went with the King, and not just because I landed him in All-Time Draft #5. An absolute defensive force who was also highly skilled. Too bad he played at a time when offensive play from defencemen was discouraged. One of the game's all-time great characters, too.

Add Leetch. In hindsight, I think he should have been added a couple slots earlier. Certainly you can make a case for Serge Savard's role on eight Cup champions and why he should be added ahead of Leetch. But the others? I think what hurts Leetch's case is his performance in the second half of his career. He hasn't been a first or second team all-star since his second Norris season in 1997. He's had seasons in which he put up good numbers (1997-98 and 2000-01 come to mind), but his all-round play has been lacking. Stevens and MacInnis really added to their legacies in seasons after they turned 30. Leetch did not.

If Pronger is on the list, where the hell is Niedermayer?

IMO, the difference between Clancy and Stevens (And MacInnis for that matter.) Is that Clancy was the best defenceman in hockey for a prolonged period of time. (Probably until Eddie Shore.) Stevens can't make that claim as he was never clearly better than Bourque, Chelios or Lidstrom.
