I am talking about the ladder. Someone still young enough that could provide leadership for WBS while also being able to be a call up and potentially slot in the bottom 6 in the future.

That looks like a decent blueline. Falk, Connelly, and Kampfer are acceptable #7/#8/#9 Dmen.
If Gilbert is on your top pairing then it is not a decent blueline.

I don't know why this trade wasn't made yet. The man will block 250 shots for you cutting the goals against down by about 20-25 goals. He'll be a +20 player for the 5-6 yrs on his very reasonable contract. He is a solid , smart and well liked teammate. He is arguably a top 10 defensive defenceman. He is exactly what you are looking for but seem to be missing this. Geoges plus add two second rounders in 2013 to your draft picks and all you gotta do is give up a coupla prospects in Coyle and Dumba who probalbly won't even be playing for yous for a coupla years.

I am not entirely certain of Houston's roster so who would you suggest as the forward to give up for Lovejoy? I admit that I would prefer to keep Strait and Bortuzzo as I realy like them as a shutdown unit from WBS.

Not suggesting the value is there on your end but guys that come to mind for consideration would be David McIntyre, Jarod Palmer, Carson McMillan, or Cody Almond. I'd throw Justin Fontaine in there but, to me, he is worth more than a 28 year depth defenseman (if Lovejoy is more than that, let me know).

Sounds like a terrible deal.

That's a terrible deal. Granlund is an offensive prospect that Minnesota has been waiting for for years.

Dude, your proposals are worse than mine. We get fleeced in this trade.

Stick to basketball and BBboards if such a thing exists.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't see him being a clear-cut better choice than the 2nd/3rd year maybes that we have.

Is he better than what we can expect out of a healthy Scandella/Stoner?

Granted, I like Scandella more than most, and I think he'll end up being that top-4 placeholder until Brodin is ready. But we're looking for someone that is clearly an upgrade.

I'll bet that, baring 3+ injuries to the blueline, we will finish the season without acquiring a defensemen.

To Min: Matt Niskanen, Tyler Kennedy, +

To Pit: Devin Setoguchi, Cal Clutterbuck

Niskanen had a solid season last year and should be a pretty good #4. I guess this proposal would hinge on whether Niskanen is an upgrade from Minny's perspective. Kennedy is a decent 3rd/2nd line tweener who could partially mitigate the loss of Setoguchi and Clutterbuck upfront.

I wouldn't mind throwing in a decently significant plus to get Setoguchi who should be a perfect winger for Crosby. And I've seen some people suggesting Clutterbuck in trades so I figured he might be available.

Depending on how other acquisitions might line up, this might be a decent offer. The 3rd round pick would probably have to be conditional on re-signing PMB. But adding a guy like Phillips to the Yotes stable, without touching their crop of defensive stars is pretty attractive.

There's not really anything sane that can be offered to get Nikitin. His chemistry with Tyutin is really impressive, and he's on a fantastic contract. Furthermore, the blueline is pretty much the only talent strength we have, so we're going to be leaning pretty hard on it and we're definitely not about to disassemble working pairings.

We had a movable guy that might have worked over there in Methot, but we traded him at the start of the offseason for Nick Foligno. After that the next best bet would be Aucoin, but he's unlikely to be moved before the deadline. And everyone else is inexperienced, which doesn't seem to be what y'all are looking for. Sorry.
