Are we going backwards now? Soon we'll be wondering if we can get Komisarek and a 5th rounder. No to Connolly, no to Bozak, no to MacArthur...no thanks. In fact, no to Toronto altogether.

Remember what they have asked for Tomas kaberle? They asked for Cody Hodgson for him, that is leaf logic for them.

Better off to wait.

Also Kulikov has still not reported to Panthers camp and is in Russia trying to get a contract worked out still...
I don't know about that. Before last season Connolly hadn't scored at lower than a 50 point clip for 5 consecutive seasons. 4 years in a row close to a PPG, 50 point pace in '10-11 and a down year last season at half a point a game. Look what happened to a similar player in Tanguay after 1 bad year...

I would love to see Gillis find a way to come away with Kulikov. Jensen or Kassian probably have to go the other way though IMO.

To Fla- Luongo, Jensen
To Van- Kulikov, Goc

Yes, he's both soft and injury prone. I think plenty of Leafs fans will back me on this that when healthy Connolly is the better offensive player. It didn't work with him and Kessel, especially since that line was then left high and dry defensively, but in a vacuum he's the better player.

He's injury prone but has averaged around 70 games a season over the last 3 years. His durability will always be a concern but if he's just a stop-gap it's less of a risk.

For the record, Connolly wouldn't represent any value in the Luongo deal. Just a throw-in that we could make use of until Kesler returns. The value would be in the prospect/picks...

If Connolly didn't have the miles on him he does, then yes, he's better. But since time machines don't exist, I don't think I would value him higher than Bozak, who doesn't have that same sordid health history. I'd value Bozak more.

I understand your reasoning, I just think that "throw in" should be Bozak and no Connolly. He played those 70 games last year because he does not engage anymore. It really has turned a good offensive player into a timid floater. He's not the same anymore.

When I first saw this thread title I imagined him as a Devil.

I thought for a second Gillis there that had finally pulled the trigger.

Reilly Kadri Colbourne Frattin Biggs Percy are all very very legitimate prospects.

And Reilly is available? Didn't think so. The rest... Meh I like Frattin as a complimentary piece in a package I suppose.

Also, if you're going to get a guy that may or may not be a fit you may as well get the guy that makes less money. Lu for Bozak ++ allows us to add salary, Lu for Connolly ++ does not.

Same goes for Kassian, Schroeder, Tanev, Connauton, Lack, Jensen and Rodin.

So?

Difference is, 6 of those are actually good prospects There's only one in the Leafs list.

Can anyone please give me a reason why Lou waives his no trade clause to go to Toronto that supersedes the fact that he would never win a cup there.

Just one would do.

Frattin is 25. How is he still considered a prospect?

The way Luongo jokes about the Toronto situation leads me to believe that he is not going there. I am starting to think that FLA is the ultimate destination and that Gillis is using Toronto, Edmonton, Philly, etc. to prop up the return.

I think it's been thoroughly established that reality is skewed among Leaf fans.

Especially with the way the TO packages are being so publicized.

He's played one NHL season. Jason Garrison didn't become and NHL regular until he was 25 either.

Frattin is crap though far as im concerned.

Now those intersting comments from the panthers today. Not denying going after lu and saying "wel see how things go" basically. Interesting.

Weiss would look good in a Canuck uni.

Defensemen take longer to develop.

They do, but Garry is one of the ultimate late-bloomers in the NHL.

What I meant to say is that by age 25, I wouldn't consider any player a prospect. Your either a NHLer, or a bust (until proven otherwise which was garrison's case).
