Any information on Ryan O'Reilly or Subban lately? Drafted these guys and they both have contract problems going into the season.

The price of a flight to Miami, a hotel and hockey game is about the same as a ticket to a game at MSG

TSN Top 50 players: http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/feature/?id=81139

4 Rangers: Gaborik (45), Richards (42), Nash (24), Lundqvist (15)

Not bad, but I'd have McDonagh in there between 41-50.

How Nash is that much higher than Gaborik blows my mind.

Oh, Parise is criminally overrated on this list. They ranked like if he had his 40 goal season last year. Intangibles get overrated ridiculously.

They DID say it a projection for what they'll do this season...but then Aaron Ward comes in and says he put Dustin Brown at 22 (!!) because he won the cup and was great in the playoffs.

So, I couldn't even tell you.

I'd have Gaborik closer in the 20s.

Yeah, not seeing how Parise is better than Kovalchuk and Ovechkin. I mean, what the ****.

Also, apparently Ward is the only one to have Crosby #1, yet he was #1 on the list...this makes NO sense.

Tsn also has a top 300 fantasy players on their site with totally differeny rankings. IIRC Lundqvist is 5th, then we have gaborik, nash, richards somewhere in 15-35 and then Callahan at 43.

Granted a fantasy pool is looking at different things than a Top 50 Players list, but Rangers in general seem well represented in most lists I see.

Wow, so this season for the panthers costs about the same as what I paid for my jersey last season (~300)

Edit, wait, half as much. I was calculating for 46 games, there's only 23 home games.

I also think John Tavares is little low on that list. I'd have him in low teens. PPG player while being surrounded by garbage.

So funny, all the talk of big, unexpected trades after the lockout ends and teams sitting on deals that are ready to go was utter BS. The season starts in four days. I have a feeling we won't even see Luongo dealt. Heck, Subban, Benn, O'Reilly still don't even have contracts.

Hickey claimed by Icelanders. That 2007 draft is hurting.

I don't think Hickey wasn't good enough to be an NHLer. I just think he wasn't good enough to get a job in LA, which is understandable.

Personally, I never understood why Bernier and Hickey weren't traded. They won a Cup with zilch from both.

Subban thinks he's getting 5-6 million. Please. He's not Ray Bourque. He's done nothing to warrant a huge raise.

That 2007 draft is looking to be on par with the 1999 or 1996 larkfest.

Its a draft that lacks star power. Almost absolutely.

I don't think so. Kane, Benn, Subban, Couture, Pacioretty, McDonagh and Shattenkirk are all extremely good players. The first three are certainly stars in this league. It's also produced a high number of "solid" guys like Hagelin, Alzner, Gagner, Simmonds, Perron, Eller, Voracek, Sutter and JVR.

A few guys like Brendan Smith and Matt Frattin are likely to break into the league this year as well. It wasn't a stellar draft, but 99 and 96 were worse. That being said, they did produce a lot of guys who had, or are having, long careers in the league.

Wasn't it considered a weak draft though? I seem to remember that. Or was that 2006?

Yeah, I agree. The draft isn't turning out as weak as everybody thought/thinks, IMO. It's just that the projected upper echelon talent (besides Kane) didn't really pan out and guys like McD and Couture are.

The top 5 in 2006 were quite good with E. Johnson, J. Staal, N. Backstrom, J. Toews, and P. Kessel. Rest of the first was pretty much crap aside from Giroux. Lucic and Marchand were taken in the second and third rounds.

Jury is still out on Okposo, Grabner and Berglund. Andrew MacDonald and V. Stalberg were solid pickups in the late rounds.

#AHL discontinues hybrid icing. Calls it a sufficient test but now that #NHLLockout is over, wants to play by same rules.

The Islanders stood up for themselves. The Pens deserved everything they got. I don't like the taunting of an injured player, but I'm fine with the game in general. The Isles got beat the game beforehand and the Penguins were laughing at them. The Isles came out the next game like it was their Stanley Cup game 7.

from the Hockey Fights page here..

Donald Brashear pull a "Bertuzzi" at LNAH game

From the thread it seems he got a 6 game suspension for this...

Cheap shot, but there's a history behind it...Starts at 0:53

Quote:
On March 25th, 2011, the 3 L of RDL, team of hockey for which evolves the defendant, play in Center First Tech. After the game, players of Caron and Guay gossip at the side of their bus, behind the arena. At the wheel of his car, Donald Brashear advances slowly, stops in front of Gaby Roch and Éric Labelle, of the opposing team, which are back. “They then turned over, the defendant waits one or two seconds, then release the brakes.

This operation constitutes a threat, an infringement of ways in fact. The two men put their hands on the hood by reflex, to indicate to the driver that what it did was dangerous. Mr. Brashear then moved and exited the car from the other side. The parties did not convince the judge that Éric Labelle had intentionally struck the rear view mirror of the car of Brashear. “The proof shows that there was contact, but not necessarily intentional.” The court does not believe Mr. Brashear when he said he felt threatened and got out to see the damage.

“He got out of his own will, which proves that he was not afraid. When Mr. Labelle told him: “WTF is your problem ? “, he retorts with a violent punch, ask Gaby Roch if he wants some too, go back in his car and leaves without looking at his rear view mirror. It is the defendant who attacked the players with his car and caused the reaction of Mr. Labelle. The punch constitutes the use of an excessive force. The self-defence does not apply.”
Another video of one that doesn't go by "the code"...Same guy..
