All three have Stanley cup rings as they were black aces! :p

i haven't seen enough of any players to give this much input, all have had potential, but i believe zach hamill has already been on the waiver wire previously, not sure about mac, and hickey is the one most people would be surprised if he wasn't claimed. certainly would not help the kings, but it might not matter if they both get cut anyways and have to go on re-entry waivers, we'll see how this all turns out tommorow anyways.

you'd fill up your invites, but for a team in a rebuild, that'd be the smart thing to do, IMO

As a Stars fan, I'd rather give Hickey a shot as the 7th D than keep Jordie Benn up.

Re-entry waivers are gone in this CBA.

What was the thinking from both sides (NHL and NHLPA) in removing re-entry waivers? Was it just unnecessarily complicated or was it actually a main demand from one side or the other.

Does anyone here have some informed knowledge they care to share about this?

NHLPA: makes it easier send people down and up. good players are less likely to get trapped there because of recall waivers causing the recalling team to be stuck with 50%

NHL: as above plus cap hits (>900K) count in the minors so less likely to hide players making it less likely they get sent down, and if they do the team is still on the hook.

For the sake of clarification, I have a question.

When I hear "recall waivers" I think if it as a 3 step process.
- Step 1: You place a player on waivers in order to recall them
- Step 2: Another team puts a claim in for the player
- Step 3: You are on the hook for 50% of the remaining salary and cap hit.

So is the elimination of recall waivers the elimination of the entire process? or is it just the elimination of step 3? because steps 1 & 2 were around at least 1 CBA before step 3.

whole thing.
should prevent teams from trying to stash players in the AHL at the start of the year and then being afraid to recall them except on emergency recall.

There is no "original potential". Draft year potential is nothing but a window in time, a moment just like any other moment. Scouts often get it wrong. Sometimes a player's potential is underestimated and sometimes it's overestimated, and that's why there are draft steals and busts. Hamill had a huge drop in production immediately after the draft. That means Hamill's potential hasn't been "8th highest overall of 2007 eligible prospects" since the 2007 Entry Draft. His stock dropped in a hurry. Draft position is pretty much meaningless years after the draft. You evaluate the player in the here and now regardless of whether he was a first-round pick or undrafted.

That said, I'd be intrigued by Hickey. Not that I've seen him in anything but AHL highlights, but L.A. has been pretty deep in defense prospects, so Hickey could be a player for a team with less depth.

Hickey, Clune, Cliche, Campbell are all listed back on the Monarchs website roster.

So I guess they all cleared.

they don't "clear" for another hour, so it may just be pre-emptive.

Or waiving is simply a technicality and they never really left. That may be the case for a lot of AHLers.

That's the case with a lot of the names on this list. For example, the Predators signed Mike Moore to play in Milwaukee. No intention of him playing in Nashville..but this week, they had to retroactively put him through waivers to "send" him there.

I was just pointing it out, Manchester had removed all their names off the site, once they were put on waivers.

They are now back on the site.

...and the total failure of the Hickey pick comes to an end.

Good thing the Kings wipe away their tears with their cup rings.

Isles should re-claim Haley, we never wanted to see him leave, especially to the Rangers

The problem is if you re-claim him, you have to have a spot on the NHL roster for him.
