you underrate Hummels and overrate Thiago Silva, the Messi-Götze comparision is ridicolous.

I think Podolski is a great combination of his left foot, nothing, his goal instinct and his left foot If the two striker system didn't seem dead at the moment I would take him over Giroud. Just a clinical finisher. They should try the two together sometime.

Anyway:

Thiago Silva has been the best CB for a while now.
Hummels is not there yet, and we don't know if he'll ever be.

Of course, the Messi comparison is a stretch because Messi is way above others while some CB are comparable to Thiago Silva. Still it's simply comparing the best in the world with a possible top 5.

I'll take Rodgers, just on my gut.

Neuer or Buffon?

Neuer, but only because he is younger and can get better. For one game that I absolutely had to win, I'd take Buffon, though.

RVP or RVN (Man Utd)?

Well that's unfair simply because the parameters say over the next five years.

Laudrup on achievements to date. I have a feeling that Rodgers will fare better in the long run.

Van Persie over Van Nistelrooy, assuming its a healthy Van Persie.

Van Nistelrooy, could actually play for club and country...

Brazilian Ronaldo.

Ronaldo could play as a solo striker or with a partner in any type of team. C Ronaldo is a perimeter player who needs to be in space out wide to be at his best.

15 year old Freddy Adu or 15 year old Nii Lamptey?

15 year old Lamptey and life's too short to hold grudges against all the Dutch footballers who've valued polishing their own egos above playing well for their country.

Maybe someone else has done this already, but Frank de Boer or Ronald de Boer?

I’d say Frank was better at his position over Ronald. Ronald was maybe more versatile. In the end, I’d go with Frank. Both were pretty spectacular during Ajax’s Champions League Run in 95 though.

Eric Cantona or Denis Bergkamp?

Bergkamp.
I think Cantona is too much of a distraction to have in your locker room.

Oliver Kahn or Gianluigi Buffon ?

Buffon, more consistantly dominant over a longer period and also won a world cup. Kahn was brilliant for a shorter period.

Batistuta or Romario? (I know the thread was for current players but this is fun)

Rivaldo, minus the world cup incident.

Alan Shearer or Wayne Rooney. ( i know it's a bit difficult with Rooney's career still ongoing.)

Willian.

Not a fan of Brazilians who are coming straight out of Brazil. Overpriced, and usually massively overrated. Willian is a proven commodity in a strong league + Europe.

Balotelli or Guidetti.

Balo has much more talent, but Guidetti because I would stay far away from Balotelli.

Ribéry or Nani [Man U]??
