I, for one will be glad to have his size in the bottom six. If he adds some tenacity to his game and plays better in his own zone he will be great in a short season.
I haven't been following this thread, so forgive me if this question has been brought up already. I just wanted to know why are the Sharks not making any moves this week in terms of free agency or just signing. A lot of people I've heard nationally are saying the Sharks are this team where the window is closing and I'm almost ready to be knocked down a peg or two this season. Are star players (Thornton and Marleau) are getting older, we still have the core with Pavelski and Couture, and there are still some key injuries like Demers and even Burns. I'm getting excited for the season, but should I expect an "average" year where the team might not even make the playoffs? Is this a money thing that Wilson just doesn't have the resources to make any deals? Is this season going to be a disaster in the making? Hopefully it's a good year but I'm questioning the depth of this squad at the moment with just a few days and no preseason games to go before the start.
every one always seems to forget that lots of his good friends were on that plane. when trying to explain his horrible play last season.
Except I remember that Handzus played somewhat well in the beginning of the season and his play went downhill later on. The Lokomotiv disaster happened before training camp even started.
I don't think it was the crash so much that made him play bad, but the hip injury that he apparently played with throughout the season. A lot of players who last friends in that horrible crash still had great years, though I guess everyone copes with problems differently.

and every one takes different amounts of times before it actually finally sinks in that it wasn't just a dream.
i am sure the crash wasn't all of the problems last year, but i am sure that it played a role in him not being able to just work his way through a minor slump. and that slump just got worse and worse.
Quick question for you guys, were do you see Clowe slotting in your line-up this year? Do you see him having a bounce back after a bit of a drop last year points wise?

2nd line next to Couture and Havlat. And here's hoping he has a bounce back season, all signs are pointing towards it. Contract year, a good RW in Havlat, and good rest from the lockout (he was very injured last season).

I dunno man they made Huskins look pretty good most of last year. He was really good against the sharks in the playoffs too... White may make the allstar game...
God I hope you're wrong... He did play around 70 games 3 straight seasons before coming to SJ so there is hope. Maybe his cycle is he gets hurt every 4 years.
I want him healthy just for entertainment value. Sharks haven't had a guy that could dangle like him with speed since maybe Korky or Selanne...
Nope he'll get hurt Friday in practice and miss the season.
psh, he probably doesn't even make it into practice. He'll dislocate his shoulder trying to get his hockey bag out of the trunk of his car or something.

Well, then he'll break his wrist trying to get the tip out of his wallet for whoever does carry his bag in (and thanks btw for knowing what I was going for even though I somehow ended up writing "back" instead of "bag" :laugh)

And Gomez? Always been a fan of his when he played in NJ. Wonder if he can shake off the MTL crap
I was kidding (though I certainly wouldn't put it past Dougie, he did try to get Redden before).
Gomez would make a good 3rd/4th line center at around $1.5m tops. Redden is terrible, he's not even playing well in the AHL. His only hope is that he's been basically pouting, which isn't particularly a good thing to say about a guy. Realistically if anyone pays him more than league minimum on a 'this is your last chance' contract they are fools.
