I don't know. I might take Karlsson over some players at this point in their respective careers but I don't think it's a slight to think that 10 other players are just as big contributors and skillful as he is. Maybe in 2-3 years if he keeps it up or develops at all even more he'll definately be in the top 10 but for now, to have a 22 year old or wtv he is in the top 20 is very impressive.

Ward reasoning is that he doesn't think Karlsson will stay healthy.

Meanwhile, Crosby is ranked #1 on the list.

They want to see him do what he did again. That's fine. Nothing wrong with that. Plenty of defenseman have a dominant year only to tapper off quite substantially. To be considered one of the best 50 players on the planet is enough praise imo.

What is the injury? They should've traded him for Kane before camp even started haha.

Posted by p.l.f. on leafs board....

Forward James van Riemsdyk, however, left the ice about an hour into practice after being hit on the foot with the puck. He was moving gingerly, accompanied by a trainer.

bah should be ok

What has he done in his career thus far to make anyone think he'll be a solid NHLer? Let alone help replace a great player like Visnovsky.

Mostly pedigree, but it's still a risk you take every single time. Similar to our pickup of Filatov -- low risk, high reward.

No doubt.

At least Filatov had some NHL experience though lol.

I'm just not a fan of Hickey. Doesn't do anything well enough to be more then a bottom pairing guy imo.

Just looking at numbers, seeing if there are any interesting situations;

Boston has $7m to sign 7 players including Tukka Rask.
Horton is a UFA after this year, can they afford him? Should we offer him a contract?

Minnesota has $13m to sign 7 players.
Do they resign Cullen or Bouchard?

Vancouver has $8.8M to sign 11 players. Add $5m if they trade Lou.
Can they resign Edler?

Philly has $6.8 to sign 7 players.
Do they keep riding the LTIR train with Pronger?

NYR have $4.3 + $5.6 after buying out Redden,to sign 5 players
How much are their RFA's gonna want? Sauer, McDonagh, Stepen, Hagelin?

Thoughts?

I'd be very interested in Hagelin, McDonagh and Horton.

Nothing on the waiver wire to help us today. We'll see if any decent D hit it in the coming days.

Mcdonagh will not be available so forget him. Hagelin same and horton same. But wouldn't want horton, obviously would love mcdonagh, wouldn't mind hagelin. Although even though he's apparently friendly with alfie, do not forgive him for concussing him, therefore on fence.
None are available though so....

Not a fan of Horton plus hes had a few concussions the last 2 seasons. Would love Edler but he'll get resigned.

Would love Hagelin. Obviously.

I'm pretty sure you know, but just in case there are people out there that don't.

I'm pretty sure that the Islanders have waiver priority on us, so we couldn't have claimed him even if we wanted to.

Not really, but almost $6 million with the cap going down for that long a term is though.

That being said, all the Devils fans are:

but then, according to them Lou Lamoriello isn't going senile yet.
