Niskanen had a solid season last year and should be a pretty good #4. I guess this proposal would hinge on whether Niskanen is an upgrade from Minny's perspective. Kennedy is a decent 3rd/2nd line tweener who could partially mitigate the loss of Setoguchi and Clutterbuck upfront.

I wouldn't mind throwing in a decently significant plus to get Setoguchi who should be a perfect winger for Crosby. And I've seen some people suggesting Clutterbuck in trades so I figured he might be available.
Trades are supposed to benefit both teams, this one only benefits one.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the Wild would never do it.

Where do we sign?

A tweener 2nd/3rd liner who hasn't shown to be anything more than a ~20 goal winger who provides nothing else, an oft-injured bottom-4 defensemen and a 3rd? For Edler?

Heck, the cap hits are even close. I'd do it in a heartbeat, which leads me to believe that Vancouver wouldn't and shouldn't.

Want Nick Schultz back? We like him in Edmonton, but if we could package him up and get Clutterbuck, I'd be a happy guy.

Not a snowball's chance in hell that Clutter will be traded to our division. He'll go east, if he's going.

Unless the right deal comes from the West. Come on, get real. That's not how hockey works. You take the best deal that helps your team the most, regardless of where it sends a player. Especially one like Clutterbuck. He hits. Cool. It's not like he's going to score a ton on you.

Would be more inclined to do something around this. No interest in Kennedy and Clutter can step up to the second line to replace Seto if Coyle and/or Zucker aren't NHL ready yet.

I would still be interested in doing something around that. Just saw people mentioning Clutterbuck as being available and thought Kennedy might have a little more offensive upside than him if one of them had to be temporarily bumped up into a top-six role.

What sort of plus would you be looking to get back in addition to Niskanen for Seto?

Hence why I said it would depend on your view of Niskanen. If the point was to bring in a top four defenseman, and if Wild management saw him as such then I think the value is there depending on the + from the Pens side.

I can also understand if there is no interest in Kennedy. Just figured a forward would be necessary to include if Seto and Clutterbuck were being sent from the Wild and Kennedy could fill in as a 2nd/3rd line tweener better than Clutterbuck IMO.

Clutterbuck is not a 2nd line player on a good team.

Never said he was. However, if we do trade Seto, who else do you propose could step up to the 2nd line if Bouchard isn't healthy? I mentioned probably Coyle or Zucker but there's no guarantee either of them are ready.

Andrew Ference is 33. Slightly too old for Minnesota. Zucker is also Minnesota's only promising goal scoring prospect. I don't think they trade him unless it's in a package for someone who can already score goals, eg. Bobby Ryan.

Coyle isn't a promising goal-scoring prospect?

Consistently, Coyle puts up more assists than goals.

Edler and Booth for Setoguchi, Clutterbuck, a 1st and a 3rd might work from a VAN perspective. I'd picture us either acquiring another top 4 D for Luongo or flipping the 1st and/or other picks for one, maybe Klesla+.

If you had an Edler type playing number one minutes, you wouldn't trade him for an oft-injured but talented forward and a likely middle-of-the-pack 1st. I think the original offer was pretty fair, and maybe a bit generous.

Any interest in Tallinder or Volchenkov?

(Probably already been asked?)
